COMPUTER HELP! missing or corrupt system 32\drivers\pci.sys

I need to be brief, as a crash may happen in a couple of minutes.

missing or corrupt system 32\drivers\pci.sys

I get that, my computer restarts, I get a quick blue screen and it restarts, it then goes bug nuts crazy sometimes crashing before it starts up or very soon.

I NEED to replace that file quickly, as that is the source of my problem, I just need my computer to run long enough for me to run a virus scan (Using Malware Bytes)

Sorry I can't be more specific, I'm suprises my computer hasn't crashed already.

Please for the love of all that is religous/not religous can you help me? Thank You!

1) Windows XP
2) I have not installed any new programs in the last while, it just randomnly starting happening in the middle of L4D2 Dark Carnival level 4 Barns

If you know where I can find system 32\drivers\pci.sys on my computer, and where I can download/somehow fix it/repair it please let me know.

I suggest you back up your hard drive (as in important files) and reinstall XP.

Tried that earlier, but it cannot connect to the internet, regardless.

I'd rather get the missing or corrupt system 32\drivers\pci.sys dealt with ASAP.

Thanks for trying though, I'm going to continue panicking, and hope to god it doesn't crash on me again. This being the second time since I posted the OP that it's crashed >_>

I didn't post that one because it applies to Win2k, not WinXP

My Techy friend said that it didn't matter...

I'll skip to yours then, I was only just about to begin the procude, and had not actually started.

Well, you might as well, but the paths are going to be wrong... It won't find a folder called winnt because it's called System32 in XP and the path on the disc might be different as well and I'm not sure how to check... What the first of my links does is restore all system files to their original from-the-CD state and you'll just have to re-update windows up to SP3 again (Still easier than reinstalling from scratch).

Yeah, I think my only problems will be understandin what they are telling me as (I'm not afraid to admit) I'm a computer 'tard. I can use them, but for the life of me I don't understand their intricacies.
