Yesterday I was on a video streaming site (I will withhold na- ANIME SHIPUUDEN!) when my computer suddenly froze. After 30 seconds or so without any activity whatsoever I decided to bring up task manager only to be met with a black screen which popped up ten seconds after I gave the command, and little window that said "security failure". I waited a few more minutes and it refused to budge so I restarted the computer in normal mode and everything seemed alright. 5 or so minutes after I logged on, it did the same thing again.
I restart the computer in Safe Mode with Networking and downloaded Avast home edition and Spybot Search and Destroy and have them both do thourough scans of my entire computer only to come up with nothing but some minor bugs. After fixing them I tried booting up the computer in Normal Mode again and it still froze. So after going through the same process again and still coming up with nothing I decided to do a full diagnostics boot and it still no problems came up. So then I do a system restore and found the problem still persists. So I reinstall all of the virus programs and do another battery of scans only to still come up empty once more.
I have thought of reinstalling my operating system, the only problem with that being that I don't have the installation disk when I recieved my new hard drive and I don't have the old one.
The computer is a Dell Inspiron 1525 running Windows Vista Home Premium. The only other problem I have had with it is when the hard drive crashed and the computer wouldn't switch over to the operating system.
I'm planning on taking the computer into a place where it can be fixed, but I don't want to spend $95 dollars on what could potentially be a minor problem. I've tried calling Dell Tech spport and they have pretty much been useless too.
Any help on this situation would be much appreciated.
