Booted up my computer this morning after stopping at a friends house last night and now it wont behave!
Whenever it loads and I click a User Profile, i get the message

Cannot display this video mode
optimum resolution 1280 x 1024 60Hz

Im running on XP

Any help guys and girls?

Should also proberly mention that I cant do anything to it whilst that message is up, the only thing I can do is shut it down.

At your friends did you use a different screen? cause it sounds like the message is being given by your screen, and if that's the case you just need to reset your resolution to your screens normal resolution.

It sounds like you've set the screen resolution to a resolution which your monitor can't display.

You probably need to boot it in "Safe Mode" (press/hold F8 as it's booting up) and then set the screen resolution to 1280x1024 60Hz and restart it.

Yeah, that means it's been set to a resolution outside the ones it can display, or possibly a refresh rate it can't use. Start it up in Safe Mode and you should be able to set the resolution back to normal. Though Windows is usually pretty good at identifying the limits of your monitor and adjusting accordingly.
