I'm looking for a good pair of headphones. Good sound quality, probably over-ear ones, that I can use in my iPod AND with my computer. Do you guys have any suggestions? Or am I going to have to get separate ones?

*watches thread*

Thinking of maybe getting some too. My old ones got to the point where I had to tape the cord to my desk in a certain way after some careful fiddling just so both sides would work. Now I just have cheap earphones.

How much are you willing to spend? I got a good pair of Sony over-ear phones (these ones: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-MDR-V150-Headphones-Reversible-Monitoring/dp/B00005QBU9/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1296653101&sr=1-1 ) for £6 (yay Asda), and they've lasted a good long while without any deterioration of sound or damage to the actual headphones.

If you're looking for something more expensive (as in over the thirty mark) I'd stick with well known brands, or those known to cater for professionals (DJs and such).

I use Sennheiser headphones

My set cost roughly $100, and they are the best headphones I have ever owned. When these eventually die I will be buying another set of them. Or maybe even upgrading to the next model up.

Well, I got a mad set of 7.1 surround sound headphones (weird huh? But hey, it works very well ;))
Can't remember the brand though.

Cheaper then IPod Earphones too! And less damaging

I forgot to mention that I'd prefer them to fold up somehow, since I use them at school.

I just got a pair of Grado SR60i. I can vouch that they are amazing for the price. Depends on how much you want to spend though...

At the same time, if your standard is the iPod headphones, ANYTHING will be better.

Compared to a lot of that stuff $30 is dirt cheap. You can spend 3 bucks on a pair of headphones, 30 bucks, 80 bucks, 100 bucks 200 bucks, $400, $500-$600 if you really wanted to, 30 bucks is dirt cheap when compared to a lot of the stuff out there, have a look at some of the Sennheiser stuff skull candy get pricey so can creative, then if you want gaming headsets you can be spending the same kind of money on razors or logitec and there is a nice WoW set out there that will set you back a little.

Hey dogenz can you comment on how much outside sound the grados let in? also how comfortable are they?

Killem, many of the high-quality headphones require a portable amp to either drive them at all or to their potential. Some headphones are best for music while others are specifically designed to simulate a 3d sound environment for gaming.
