HDDs can last that long. I had a few that died within a year, however. And reinstalling Windows? I've never seen a Windows installation freeze up a computer and then let it crash. If it's Windows, it goes down with an error. Freezing and shutting itself off pretty much indicates a hardware problem.GodsClown said:I doubt that is it then. Usually HDD's last like 4-5 years, or something. It could also be your OS. If window's messes up in the install even in the slightest it can cause problems. Though I wouldn't reinstall windows until any other thing you try doesn't work.
@Dkozza,
My E6750 has taken a lot of punishment and still works perfectly fine.. in fact, it managed to slow down the computer and eventually shut itself off. It reached a temperature of 100°C.. I could simply feel the heat when I opened the case. ... Turns out, a wire was stuck in the fan and blocking it. From that point on, I never disabled the Fan Failure warning again ..
Anyways. 12V, 5V and 3.3V would be the values for your power supply. If they deviate a lot, it could be the cause of your crashes. These values are also displayed in Speedfan.
