I doubt that is it then. Usually HDD's last like 4-5 years, or something. It could also be your OS. If window's messes up in the install even in the slightest it can cause problems. Though I wouldn't reinstall windows until any other thing you try doesn't work.

HDDs can last that long. I had a few that died within a year, however. And reinstalling Windows? I've never seen a Windows installation freeze up a computer and then let it crash. If it's Windows, it goes down with an error. Freezing and shutting itself off pretty much indicates a hardware problem.

My E6750 has taken a lot of punishment and still works perfectly fine.. in fact, it managed to slow down the computer and eventually shut itself off. It reached a temperature of 100°C.. I could simply feel the heat when I opened the case. ... Turns out, a wire was stuck in the fan and blocking it. From that point on, I never disabled the Fan Failure warning again .. It's definitely not your processor that's overheating, if it runs around 35 idle. That's the temperature you should be getting with a stock intel fan, anyway. Still, I would check the temperature when stressed.

Anyways. 12V, 5V and 3.3V would be the values for your power supply. If they deviate a lot, it could be the cause of your crashes. These values are also displayed in Speedfan.

Well i've recently had school holidays so during that period the computer was used 1-3 hours a day. On normal school day types, less than an hour a day to a bit over an hour. If that helps...

Not really, you said you could run it for 4 - 5 hours during the night, do you or not?

I tried once to leave it on in the night in hopes of it being able to run in the morning (stupid idea i know) about 5 hours in on it running it locked up. That was one time so I hardly thought it would count in the generalization of about 6 weeks of usage.

@Mariena no idea how to check that and theres too many different voltage references on speedfan to be able to know which one. Sorry if i'm being a pain with my lack of knowledge in this field.

I have one other. Have you tried the PC on a different power outlet other than it's usual one in your home? Do you use a surge protected power strip? Probably not the issue, just another angle...

I use a surge protected one and with a different power outlet I currently have the computer on (can't remember proper name atm) a power board like thing. Heres a pic [http://www.qldit.com.au/images/products/belkin_F9E409vau1M.jpg]. It has 6 'slots' and 4 are being used (including the computer). Could the sharing be an issue?

EDIT: Computer is now working and its about 8:30 AM. Don't know how long it'll last but i'll stay hopeful.

On a maybe its a virus front, remove the motherboards battery incase something dug into the bios.

Have you tried re-installing your operating system? Is your technician any good? Maybe your computer doesn't like MMO's....

Hmmm i think speedfan may have automatically fixed a bad running fan. The fact that its actually working in the morning may suggest that. I'll try to run Guild Wars and see what happens. (May not be able to post for a while as sisters laptop is off and don't know her pass >.<)

So, I'm going to try my hand at this.
Sounds like a heat problem to me,
Is it possible to get your temps under load? temps at idle mean nothing.
Run a Prime 95 Cpu stress test, If you can get through 4 hours of that, we know its not a heat issue.
Also, just to make sure its not malware, run Combo fix. A virus scan might not pick up some new ones.
Lastly. Go into your BIOS, and make sure you have everything at the factory default settings.

Ok I was just finished posting my reply when the computer froze. I restarted the computer and midway through logging in, it froze. Now its temporarily working i guess...I'll try those programs although i fear it may stop working before I get much done.

EDIT: running GUild Wars and its been running smoothly for about 20 mins. I do not get this comp. This is really annoying me.

EDIT 2: I also changed my wireless keyboard/mouse to wired after suggestion from tech guy. COuld that be it?

Also after playing the game core temp is up and about 59C

Sharing no, house wiring is robust and if it's overloaded that's what fuses are for. sorry my idea didn't pan out.

Maybe find a better tech guy if you're gonna get it looked at again.

hmmm...i think I may have solved it but the solution is pretty weird. All I had to do was use a wired mouse/keyboard instead of my wired set. Don't get how it was causing the problems but everything is working fine now. Anyway, thanks for your help and if anything else happens i'll let you know.

that makes absolutely no sense... that a mouse and keyboard would do that.
Pretty sure its going to happen again. (Hope not though)

Just a thought but do you have any older games installed that used starforce as their DRM?
Some of the DRM programs can mess things up pretty badly.

it's possible, sounds like a driver issue really. it's not ram as ram usually tosses up strange read errors, especially when reading from cds/dvds. i'd say go update all your drivers, it sounds like something is mucking it up. sometimes the drivers conflict with one another and cause strange issues

I've been trying to heat it up and make it crash/freeze by playing 3 games at once (guild wars/sims 2/sims 1) with no avail. All that happened was that the computer got really laggy. The tech guy suggested it to me as it apparently was stuffing up another customers computer once.

After first time it froze during the game i updated every driver i could find so that rules one option out.
