I scan regularly everyday with my anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-malware programs. I try to make a conscious effort to keep the information on my computer secure. I check for updates for these programs about once a week. (When and why I scan my computer is random so maybe there is strength in that fact)

Do you make a conscious effort to protect your computer? Or do you just let the scheduled scan look after the computer for you?

Do you scan daily or only once in awhile?

Do you let the automatic updater occasionally ask if you want to update or do you look for updates manually to keep totally up to date on the newest threats?

I hope this thread doesn't make me sound paranoid but there is quite a bit of important data here I really don't want to lose.

I'd make a poll on this but I'd rather have responses.

I don't scan often, maybe once a month. I don't have the need, as I don't go near sites that could give me viruses.

I'll update my computer whenever it tells me I should though. Updates are almost always a good thing in my eyes.

My computer scans automatically, so I guess I'm safe. I update frequently though, so surely that counts as something.
