Well i was thinking of getting Empire:total war since i am a great fan of the series, but i am unsure if my Computer will run the game smoothly. (yes i did check the minimum requirements)

I have a
Windows Vista Home premium
Service pack 1
Dimension DM061
Processor: intel (R) core(TM)2 Cpu 6300 @ 1.86 GHz
1.00 GB memory
and a 32-bit operating system

i ask because despite my lengthy use of computers its amazing how little i actually know about them.

I think that would work fine. May be a bit laggish on the higher graphical options, but I'm sure a medium to low option would run great.

Actually, re - thinking from my last post. I also have a Dell Dimension from a few years ago, like 4. It has a single 3.06ghz processor and a newer 512mb graphics card, vista ultimate / windows 7 on it with 1.5 gb of ram and it runs Spore and many other new titles brilliantly. Your set up should be just fine.

I hear downloading it of steam has some problems, will i give it a shot anyway?

Turning off vista aero is also a good plan.
