I love the obsidian kid, and I love that the teacher gave him a special assignment at the center of the earth.

I wonder if he's the kid who's bored because the class is moving slow and so he invents ways to occupy himself. It certainly looks that way.

eh.... what are they actually learning from this?
Oh and that dudes voice is like nails on a chalkboard
Putting into practice the basic concept of limited resources and working together? That's what I got from it.

That montage at the end of all the kids building is so cute for some reason! It just makes me giggle to see all of them running around, building their castle and doing stuff.

Hmmm, I guess it could work, but it needs some practicality in it. Like first making the kids draw a plan on how they're going to build it and split the roles.

This is an awesome idea and the fact that the school allowed this teacher to implement this into his curriculum (even if it is an after- school club of sorts) is great. I only had one problem with the video and how the teacher handled the kids killing the animals. He was stern on the fact that he didn't want the kids killing the animals for no reason; I would've made the rule of no killing animals whatsoever. Being a student in school to become a teacher, I would predict problems with parents on this aspect of the game and, depending on how young the children are, the influence it could have on them. The idea of making a barn, as stated by one of the children, was excellent. However, if I would've seen a kid killing an animal, I would implement some form of consequence such as a minute where they couldn't play or five minutes or a "three strikes you're out" consequence.

i don't like him forcing his leftist liberal believes on the kids by means of... anything. not that i have a problem with him having this particular world view, but he's clearly abusing his role of a teacher. maybe got no kids himself or he wants his propaganda forced on others' kids too. i'm not DIGGING it. kthxbye.

THIS IS NOT A CLASS ABOUT GAMING, IT'S PROPAGANDA FFS!

p.s.: they should go outside and play in the real world, with real materials and see how a real tree looks like.

Reading this, and that story about teachers using Portal in their lessons, makes me feel good. That our beloved medium is being more and more acceptable and is used for education.
Showing that were moving forward as a medium, getting more mature.

.. Oh whats that ? Duke Nukems coming out ?
Jeez.

Still, theres always gonne be the immature games. Which is kind of a good thing.

i would definitely stay back after school for a class like this. being part of a team building and even learning about real life things in it makes minecraft seem even more fun.

well as long as the teacher is sensible and is teaching the students lessons and not "playing" then this should definetley become an official after school club in all schools around the world
