Computer Troubleshooting (HDD)

So I just put the last components on my new desktop computer, power it on and everything seems to be running smoothly. Fans kick on, the power supply spins, all the LCDs on my motherboard light up in a wave of neon blue, then I go to install my OS and get things going when I get the infamous "No bootable device detected. Press any key to restart" and the screen sits black with this message. No problem, I must have missed something down the road. I open it back up, recheck my wiring, replace the power cable to my internal HD, but I receive the same error. So, aside from having a dead HDD, can anyone think of something that might be causing it? I thought that it was having a hard time reading my Windows 7 OS disks because they are burned copies. No, they aren't pirated. I bought them from here: http://www.microsoft.com/student/en/us/software/windows/default.aspx

It's where you can get the full version for $29.99 because students are, as we all know, broke. I burned them myself to save $14.00 and waiting for Microsoft to send me disks in the mail. However, I don't think the CDs are the issue considering my computer cannot even locate my HDD, let alone try to read the disk. Any thought? I thank those that offer suggestions.

Did you check your BIOS if your computer correctly recognized the hard drive? Is it Sata or IDE?
