A conundrum that has been bugging me for the past few years. You see comradery amongst sports team members and co-workers all the time, but my question is where does it come from. When a group of people get together for some activity, is it the social friendliness that bonds them, or is it the fact that they are working towards some ultimate goal that brings them closer together?
When I lead a group of people in anything, I always try and keep everyone focused on the goal at hand and comradery is usually a common occurrence, although I have been chastised in the past that my view is wrong.
What do you think?
Does good group mentality come from pre-existing social bonds or is it formed through the achievement of the group itself? Feel free to share your experiences.
