I'm gonna start off with s atory, just cause.

A couple days ago I was playing rugby against another school. I had been feeling horrible for the last couple days but I was our starting inside center so I decided I would talk to the coach, tell him how I felt and if either one of us thought I needed to be pulled I would be pulled. About ten minutes in, no surprises, I really started to feel off so I asked to be pulled. My coach said okay, next chance for a sub. Go figure, my luck is fantastic so the very next play I get high-tackled (Blatantly Illegal, for those who don't know the game) and I get a concussion. I haven't been to school in the past couple days and as of writing this it's been 47 hours since it happened. I've had a basically constant headache since the hit with occassional peaks where it feels like my head will explode. I went to a doctor who said I'll probably be down for about two weeks but it's impossible to tell. My question for the escapist is how do I tell when I'm all better? Somehow this is my first concussion so I wouldn't know. And just for some added discussion value (almost wrote concussion value, haha) how have you sustained your concussions that you may have had?

TL;DR You're a wanker. What's your concussion story and how do I know when I'm better?

Wait, do you now have psychic superpowers strong enough to oppose Tokyo? Cause that would be neat.

No, but I will be saying something encouraging. Cake.

That and I have hypersensitive hearing, so I feel your pain. Sounds (Pun not intended) like you're going to get a migraine, and a rather nasty one at that. Call a doctor if necessary, if not some migraine medication MIGHT help.

My concussion stories:

1) I was approximately 4 years old. I beat some kids at hop-scotch. They slammed my head into the basement wall. Knocked out, and felt bad for a few days. Didn't miss any school or anything.

2) Playing soccer in a gym that was recently waxed. Kicked the ball and was off-balance. Got checked, (it was a practice where we had some fun contact). Slid into the wall. After coming to, I continued the practice, and didn't miss any time. Bad idea.

3) Was leaning back on my chair in school. You know how teachers say not to do that? Yeah, there's a reason to that. Someone pushed me, and I fell back into a wall. Again, knocked out, but I didn't miss any school or soccer.

The latter two, I believe, have messed me up really well. My memory is really bad, and I believe it to be due to the concussions, and the fact that I didn't stop athletic activities during them. And that was just soccer. Rugby will be worse.

There's no way to determine how long it'll take, but you need to take it slow, and begin activity again in phases. Begin with light activity, and see how that goes. Goes well, go with non-contact practices. Do that for a while, and if there are no setbacks, then go for full practices. Only after that goes well, should you resume games.

Really, you could look at anywhere from 1 week to months before you are feeling proper again. And playing through it, as I've learned, is not smart.
