In anything that has a suitcase or a set limit of spots for equipment, I always organize my stuff by what they do. In RE4, I always have my handgun in the top left corner, my TMP right next to it, my shotgun below that, my rifle at the bottom, and the mine thrower in the bottom right corner. My grenades are sorted by color, all of the health objects are in a row, and ammo is near the respective gun.

In RTS games, I always throw everything wherever I want EXCEPT for houses (if applicable) I always have a square of houses neatly behind all my big buildings so that they may be a little safer.

EDIT: After every battle/shot fired, i have to reload unless you lose the entire clip by reloading (seriously, who thought that would be a good idea)

I have 3 generic habits which usually occur in 3 genres.

RTS
----
Bases, neat and tidy many a time on multiplayer i have been easily destroyed by spending time thinking where to place that power plant so it fits in well, bit like interior design.

FPS
---
Reloading generally after every kill

JRPGS
------
Getting half-way to 3 quarters of the way through the game and starting again. Making sure i save over my previous game so i can never go back to it. The next day i always feel sad...

The neat base thing seems to be an epidemic in multiplayer. I think it might be a good idea - a cluttered base might be a problem.

Also, when I prepare my attack, I prefer round numbers of units. This delays my attacks, but it makes them more powerful (since I will round up).

And I too reload after battles. I reload whenever possible. I don't think it's a strange habit - it's a good one.

Yeah we're not the problem! those scruffy base building douches are!

In Red Alert 2 in particular, I like to build tanks in groups of nine and line them up in little formations before I rush a base.

I do this alot on CoD4, which can be a problem as I often get caught off gaurd by people I should have killed. I try to reload if I have less than half a clip now.

In Call of Duty and most other games when I use the Sniper Rifle, if Im not being shot at. I like to take my time aiming at the head as I imagine a real sniper would. Oh sure I could just blow their face off but it just does'nt feel right.
The quartered head. The Medulla Shot. Exhale and ...

I love sniping, especially in TacFPS games. But rather than the clunky slow firing sniper rifles most games give you, I prefer to take an Assault Rifle with a scope or decent iron sights, put the selector switch on single shot (not possible in all games, but I got into the habit in Vietcong with captured AK47s and it works pretty well in R6 too...)

Paradoxically I don't like it in TF2 as there's too much movement (ridiculous Scout and Demoman jumps, for instance) and the cycle time for the Bolt-Action rifle is so long that a missed shot can utterly screw you.

I'm a frantic reloader as well. Any time I don't have an enemy in my face I'm ducking to cover and changing magazines.

Double-tapping enemies. I hear there's a perk you can get in COD4 which means you do this automatically but it always seemed like good sense and games with jerky hit models have trained me to squeeze (at least) one round off after hitting the enemy, usually putting it in the head, should I be forced to fight at close range.

RTS games are turret-fests for me, I have shredded the Avatar of Khaine with the turrets around a listening post in DoW but Dark Crusade put an arbitrary limit on the number of turrets you can build.

If possible I like to mix turrets up with low-cost structures for a variant of the Conga-Line-O'-Death strategy, forcing attackers to negotiate a winding path which forces enemy units into single file. This has two main advantages- firstly they can't concentrate melee/short range attacks on one building, secondly, if they do make a beeline for your most important structure, they get shot to buggery doing so.

And finally, despite the lack of positive evidence that it works, I like to equip 6 man D&D parties 1/2 with spears, 1/2 with longbows and use Agincourt tactics.

In RPGs I usually spend more time arranging my inventory than playing the damn games. I hate leaving any stuff behind after raiding a dungeon or something in Oblivion, and try my hardest to carry it all back - somehow - to sell. The damn three-day respawn in Oblivion is a freaking killer.

I also have to do every mission in a game, collect all the items and do all side quests. That's not all that odd, I suppose, since most people like to do that.

If I need to go away to eat/piss, I'll try to get a hit on an enemy, then pause it so that the screen shows my character hitting them while the game is paused.

In Mega Man X, I like to finish off bosses by having them jump at me, and jumping at them at the same time, then giving them a face full of charge shot right before taking contact damage.

In Starcraft campaigns, I prefer to completely wipe out the enemy's base, even on missions where destroying the enemy base isn't one of your objectives.

If I'm at a point in the game with good music, sometimes I'll pause/put the controller down and listen to it.

I prefer doing things the hard way. In Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, I usually don't use any weapon besides the pistol, unless it looks like I'm going to take a lot of damage/ die if I don't use a better weapon

Sometimes I let bosses in Mega Man X live long enough to use their more hard-to-avoid attacks (ie, Spark Mandrill's Dash Punch, X5 Sigma's Purple Blocks of Doom/ Lightning Hand), just so I have a challenge.

I won't actually "start" a RPG until I have what build I'm going for perfected. Leads to many false starts.

This is mostly an MMOG thing, but I always try to visually optimize my character so I look like a badass. If that weapon or bit of armor looks ridiculous, even if it's significantly better than what I have right now, I'm not going to wear it. I'll gladly sacrifice a bit of effectiveness so I can be pretty.

Whenever I pause the game, it has to be quiet. If the game doesn't shut off the music and sound effects automatically I'll mute the damn thing or turn off the TV until I'm back.

In Resident Evil 4 I kept my inventory crate organized to an obscene level. After nearly every gun fight I wold reload every weapon used in the fight and reorganize any and all items that had lowered or gained in number. Other friends who played the game agreed that they had a method to their organization but I was often ribbed with comments like "Hey, hey, check your inventory...I think one of your grenades is upside down." I would then of course have to break the action and take a count of all ammunition/health items and reorganize if deemed improper.
