ok im confused about something. first period in school i have a credit recovery class for math.. so theres about seven people in that class on average, if everyone showed up there would be i think ten. im not a social outcast, i dont dress like one, i dont look like one, i dont act like one. today there was five of us, and i noticed that every day in that class, i go the entire class which is about an hour and a half, and i dont get one word said to me, cept from the teacher but how rewarding is that. this happens 99% of the time, once one of the other student asked for a piece of paper. but that was it.
can anyone tell me why this is so??

Do you talk in class a lot, Do you have a lot of friends, Do you know the people in your class well, Do you attempt to talk to other people?

I'd say go to where the group is and see what they're talking about. After a few listen ins maybe you'll open up. Or maybe you'll consider they're not worth the effort. Society is that way.

Do your other class mates even talk to each other? maybe they just want to get on with their work.

I was in this situation a lot when I lived in Sweden, I had pretty low confidence so I wasn't very good at initiating conversation and everyone ignoring me didn't really help, my class weren't the nicest bunch of people though.

I think we need a bit more to go on. Do you have more than would be considered an average number of limbs, and/or an unusual skin tone i.e. purple? Do you or your desk hover above the ground? Do you have multiple, overtly placed tattoos glorifying nazism? Do you continually belch smoke and flames like a dragon hiding within the shell of a man?

If none of the above apply to you (or, indeed, everyone else in the class) then it might just be that the others are gutted at having to do extra maths and just want to stick their heads down and get it over with as quickly as possible. Maybe. Tell us about these classmates.

Wu-hey! Don't dismiss him this fast. He might have a point. Maybe he is showing you how they think ... That might be it. Maybe they are all stupid [insert an offence here].

But then again. You know, as stated above. If you do nothing to imply that you would like to have an conversation with them. They might think that you really don't. I was like that before. And when I really wanted to talk to anyone, but didn't have the confident. And hence just wandered silently around. They allways thought that I would snap or something if they tried to urge a conversation. You might not even notice that you act that way yourself

It's really not enough that you expect others to start conversations with you. You need to be pro-active about these things sometimes. Why don't you go try and start a conversation instead of waiting for them to? Maybe thing that they might be a bit shy to talk to people they don't know?
