Connection problems

Ok so ive been playing Dawn of war over a lan network. Today i installed the software for the linksys modem and now when ever i try to connect to the game on the lan it says connecting then after a few seconds says that the host could not be found.

What do you think we should check. im pretty sure we have already checked the firewalls on both computers, just not sure what else to check or do.

Are you running through a router of some sort? Routers generally have hardware firewalls, which can occasionally interfere with games. Even if you aren't running through a router, you might want to check and see if the modem is set up like one, and has a hardware firewall of its own.

k ill have a look in the modem settings.

i just tested the lan with another game and it had similar issues.

Edit: cant see any firewall options in my modem, well not anything that looked like it would allow me to allow specific games through

Now im also having other issues. awesome fun for me

now my computer wont even connect to the internet and troubleshooting says my connection doesnt have a valid ip configuration. any ideas?
