Console Community ?

I've noticed that the Community wise in the differance between PC and Console is ALOT.

I can see why since consoles best form of a community is just a friends list while a PC may have everything to keep a strong community (Sorry if this is vague but I don't want to sound like a idiot since I am not a PC gamer)

Would the idea of some sort of application on each console that would allow a communtiy feature be a good one ?

I'm thinking something close to a foroum or some sort of advanced stat tracking.

Xbox Live does a decent Job.

PSN Is hit or miss.

Wii I can not say much.

But truly developers or Console giants do make such a move , what can the outcome be ?

Wii has a terrible system.
You cant track your scores
You cant do anything with friends without their friend code
Afaik you dont even have a friends list

PSN on the otherhand is not as much of a "social network" as xbox live (Not that im saying Xbox live is a social network) The friends system isnt used if the people you're become friends with arent RL friends

Xbox live... Well I dunno until christmas

I'm waiting for a Universal gaming network that will allow anyone, being it PS3, Wii, Xbox 360 or the PC to simply join hands and join in that lovely past time of gaming, we shouldn't be divided due to platform!
