Console MMO's

I know I'm obsessed with the new Old Republic Online game coming out of bioware (as readers of my previous posts will see). But seriously this obsession is much to my chagrin, as I've never been a serious MMO gamer. In fact I was wondering if there is such a thing as a console MMO (for the x-box 360 or the PS3) comparable to what Old Republic would look like. Perhaps a more prudent question would be to ask "Do you think Old Republic will release for the 360/PS3?" In my limited knowledge of MMORPG's I thought it was only possible on PC's. Just wondering/worrying that as a console gamer with a shitty laptop and pc I won't even get the chance to play bioware's epic game.

Erm im not sure in response to your question, probably not. However FFxi , phantasy star online and the soon to be released Champions online and Dc universe where all pencilled for a 360 release.

FF XI is on the 360 and I think PS3, dunno. It works well, I prefer it on the 360 than PC, but I just don't like the game...

It's not a common thing. Controls don't translate well usually, since most people copy WoW and you can't have action bars tied to number keys on a controller.

I'm not sure you can afford to simplify an MMO and still maintain people playing endlessly for months at a time. You'd have to make some serious tweaks to the WoW formula.

I believe Age of Conan may be released on the Xbox 360.

There is Phantasy Star Universe but well, that's a tad rubbish, and stupidly expensive.

hmmm, so what I'm getting so far is that it is indeed possible, yet comes with some distinct disadvantages. In this case I'm torn because I'd rather see a better game than one that meets my needs as a console gamer, yet that makes me rather disheartened. Perhaps it will work on my pc....but probably not. I have absolutely no experience with MMO's though...so I'm in the dark here.
