Console Prices

Okay so now with the whole new path Sony has been taking recently with the wave of their new slim PS3, there has been an interesting twist to console prices. A PS3 console is now the same price as an equal memory 360! Weird huh? And actually the PS3 is CHEAPER than a 360 to have equal features because of the cost of WiFi adapters, chargeable controller packs, Xbox Live, and (LOL) a Blu-Ray player. (I waited to post this because at first I thought 2012 was coming early)

This brings me to my two points:

1) I hate Microsoft but like 360s, which is annoying

2) Every gamer should have both consoles

1-- I really like the 360 but Microsoft is evil. I hate having to buy $100 in peripherals just so I have chargeable controllers and Wireless internet (I currently have neither because I am broke and paying for FLIPPIN' Xbox live every month.) It just pisses me off. I can't complain about it to too many people though because I know too many fanboys who just are okay with paying out their noses to Microsoft for their games. It is EVIL!

2-- Now that the consoles are both reasonably affordable everybody should have both. Xbox owners will get a great system with many exclusives and one of the cheapest Blu-Ray players out there with no extra costs other than the usual (games or extra controllers and whatnot). PS3 people will get a system that has Halo and Modern Warfare... and you get to pay for Live. Just don't touch it, or leave it, or move it... It will murder your games (I lost two such poor souls.) Actually right now I can't figure out what to do with my 360, but I'm just hoping that soon some good exclusives will come out. PLEASE. I really want some god games on there. I don't like Halo or CoD or Gears of War. I always end up playing Halo custom matches with friends or Left 4 Dead 2. But hey, Reach is coming out eventually, and that HOPEFULLY will be awesome. HOPEFULLY. (Pray to God someone that it is good.)Otherwise I'll just end up playing SOCOM 4 with the Playstation Move this fall.

Sounds accurate. Its a (not so) clever way to get 360 fans to buy Ps3.

I really don't see the point in getting both consoles. I already have a Playstation 3. I don't want to spend about ?400 on an 360 to get the same features (minus a blu-ray player).

Also a vast majority of the same games are out on both consoles. Do I really need a choice between the Playstation 3 and 360 versions of the same game?

These are not the days of the Sega Master System/Genisis/Mega Drive and the NES/SNES. Where both Nintendo and Sega consoles had very different gaming libaries. Back then it was worth having the two major consoles. But today it isn't!

this is just a "ps3 are better" thread, and the idea that we should be able to afford both consols, FUCK THAT! I have no want for a ps3, and nor do I have the money to afford it for a few exclusives that I don't want (The only ones I want being GOW, ratchet and clank, and FFXIV when it comes out). I like the Xbox. I HATE Microsoft. The Xbox is fun to play and I love Live and everything about it. I hate how Microsoft sells it. I also want some people to make new flippin games for it right now. Left 4 Dead is one of my favorite games ever but it is now one of the only games I really like that is exclusive to the console. I just want something to come out that makes me feel like buying the system was not a waste.

Truly the only thing I dislike about my Xbox console is that it has killed to game disks of mine. It is a "I dislike the government but like the country" situation.

Although, most of this was because I had my PS3 first and that messed me up. I can move my PS3 as it is playing, you can't do that with the Xbox. Didn't know: game 1 dead. I can leave my PS3 on pause for a few hours, not an Xbox. Didn't know: game 2 dead. (Although I have left my Xbox on recently and my games lived... maybe it just didn't like guitar hero. Or was hungry.)

The controllers are about the same dude. The only difference is that Microsoft didn't want to infringe n the PlayStation when they made the original Xbox so they changed the position of an analog stick and the d-pad. Everything else works similarly. Seriously.

Actually I was super optimistic when I got my 360. I only started to hate the company AFTER I owned the system. No joke. I was insanely excited to get a 360.

I really dont see why people give a flying fuck what console I buy their almost identical if you think about it:

Both are made by a company that only wants money,both play almost all the same games,both realease a new version even though I have the sneaking suspition that they didnt need to and they just added a bunch of gimmics and lastly I had a PS2 then I got a 360 you know the diffrance,the menu,nothing major else changed

so why cant both companys maximise profit by combining into something like "the gamebox 10" (you heard it here first) and end this petty rivalry.

Anyhoo, I simply can not justify buying myself the ps3, any series that I'm actually interested in is either on every console on the planet or exclusive to xbox. I seriously would only be getting the ps3 for GOW, and that's just not worth it. like ever.

btw. I hate Microsoft too, i just get back at them in my own very small way; by using firefox.

It is a good point. If they both got together think of how awesome it would be. The only reason to get both is to be able to get access to the exclusives of each console.

Although having one console monopoly could also be bad. Many of the better things coming out of Micosoft, Sony, and Nintendo are all out of competitive rivalry.

I respectfully disagree about your point that gamers should have both consoles. I would love to play Uncharted or Demons Souls, but those are not enough to convince me to spend 500+ on another console.

This is a stupid backhanded attempt to make a hate thread about the 360.

Personally, my PS3 that I've owned since a month after launch is about as useful to me as a freaking brick, it hasn't been plugged in for years, I don't even know where half the cables are.

The 360 has better games, and a better online service, PSN may be free, but it's the difference between a nice network you pay for, and a turd they offer for free.

That's my opinion anyway, oh and by the way, after taking a dump on the PS3, now I'm going to say you should own both, and apparently that gets rid of everything negative I said. Lol.

Yes and I don't like having to put my left thumb down that far and get used to the switchup...you seem pretty mad about it for me just stating my opinion on a forum site. Seriously.

EDIT - and Nintendo did the analog stick change before microsoft so I think they just did it because it was obvious which one was better, the PS controller or the gamecube/N64 controller
