Dang, I just hate that, I recently got a fine a stupid mistake and for me very unfortunate.
Been driving for more than 10 years and was maybe in a "automate" mode when getting back from a friend, although by using small street I mistakenly did a red light like a regular stop.
it sucks so much I feel like I should not plead guilty.
To me, my logic I don't deserve it, it was just a random mistake, I don't feel paying a ridiculous amount of money (or throwing money in the garbage) for that.
from a small fatigue, automation of regular driving in a non-agressive environment, very very low flow and in a small street during late night and maybe some genuine unintentional mistake
grrr, because of that now I know i will be going to be stressed and anxious for weeks....

Sorry dude, you ran a red light, nothing you can do about it.
The way the system is set up means it's also a pain to fight these things, taking time and money.
Best thing to do is just pay up and learn from the experience.

I don't see how you could possibly contest it. Claim it's not your car? Argue that the light wasn't red? Seems to me you've been caught fair and square.

Running over a procession of nuns could be "a random mistake" too but that doesn't mean you wouldn't get in trouble for it. Just accept you screwed up and pay the fine, there's nothing to stress over.

I know the feeling, I got booked for an illegal right turn when I was following my GPS' bad advice in an area I was unfamiliar with. The sad thing is I seen the cop car sitting right in front of me and just sort of figured I was allowed to turn.

It makes absolutely no sense to penalize someone for what is a mistake when no damage is done, fines are meant to be there to stop people performing illegal actions and when you had no intention to perform an illegal action there is no lesson to be learned there.

rant over. sucks to be you but if you want to waste your time trying to fight it I wouldn't use the "I didn't realize I had to do X" excuse as the general legal response is that ignorance is no excuse.
In australia we have a 10 year get out of jail free card for minor driving offenses so if you can go 10 years without getting booked you just jump on the website and they will usually waive your fine, worth looking into in case your country has something similar.

I don't really agree there.

There's a level of competence in driving that someone has to have as a habit. You don't wait until they kill someone before you go 'Nope, you shouldn't be behind the wheel.' They were already a bad driver, they just hadn't hit anyone yet.

It doesn't require malice aforethought, it doesn't make them a bad person. But they just can't consistently perform to the standard required - so they're a danger. The fact that one of them was unlucky enough that their behaviour harmed someone and the other one was lucky enough that it didn't is neither here nor there - their behaviour is identical.

Everyone makes mistakes sometimes. To a certain extent that's just part of the process of learning. I'm not saying that someone should lose their license the first time something like this is seen. But a system where you turn a blind eye to it until the point that actual damage occurs seems unworkable.

In that statement alone not only do you admit to being at fault you also admit to being aware of the reason why you are at fault and in fact admit to not even paying attention no less than four times, to what degree do you think you should be contesting this?

I can buy the guy who believes he did nothing wrong even when he did and will defend his innocence the to the hilss but even YOU are admitting you were wrong here so really what is their to contest?
