I mean, yeah, that's fucked up and everything, but what exactly is the point of the thread (you know, not to be a dick or anything, but where is the discussion value?).

Joe Lieberman being in the news lately (screaming and crying about the Internet needing a China-style Presidential "shut-off" switch of all things) has got me thinking about the good old days, back when the gaming world was being rocked by a curious little game called Mortal Kombat. Its strangely realistic mo-cap graphics drew the eye, but the blood and gore were what really held our attention. I feel that now, almost 20 years later, the classic Fatality moves need no explanation, so I'll let this classic advertisement for the game do the talking:

I have no idea how Xenosaga didn't get more controversy.

Children getting killed/mind raped on screen. And by killed I don't mean "faded away to go to heaven" I mean "death by having their spines snapped and thrown into a pile" or "innocent crippled orphan children getting blown to bits with gatling guns". Check.
Gruesome violence, including such gems as a guy ripping his own head off and stomping on it or a character impaling a person with their bare hand. Check.
Main character in love with her amoral, emotionless, death machine "daughter" that even by the very end of the series is only a few years old(for those keeping track that's homosexuality, incest, and pedophilia all at the same time, woohoo!). Check.
Some very unsubtle religion bashing. Check.
Teen rating so kids can get a hold of it. Double check!

How Fox let something like this slide is quite honestly beyond me. I mean, if they can turn a few seconds of an alien's bum in a game rated M into the moral panic of the century than imagine what they could do with this!

If you timing is right, you can taze someone so they curl up into a ball, set them on fire, then when they get their skin burned off, piss on them to put the fire out. If you've done it right, the person will get up and walk around as if nothing happened while their skin has been burned off. Gruesome.

Oh, did I mention that if you befriend a dog, then decapitate someone and kick the head away, your dog will fetch the severed head?
