So, this comes up because I started playing Watch Dogs today. I had one of those moments where I was basically trying to play it like Grand Theft Auto Five, because I've got so used to that specific scheme. So yeah. I failed at what was probably the first failable point because even after reading the prompts, my hands did something completely different and Blandy McBaseballcap basically charged the cops he was supposed to sneak around. And maybe I'm weird, but that actually made me laugh out loud. And facepalm. And facepalm out loud.

Ever have one that was amusing or fun?

And yeah, I get this is less likely to be a PC thing, but even then I'm aware of people complaining about games they can't rebind. So good news,m you can be part of the fun too!

You ever try to super jump in GTA V when on an edge close to the water? No matter who you're playing, they always do some kind of majestic swan dive into the water instead of jumping up to where the fuck I want them to go.

And I discovered today that if you go right up to the top of the buoys in the water, they just jump off automatically for no reason.

Also when switching from one driving game to another, it's really easy to mix up handbrake controls.

I blow myself up every time I switch back to an action game I haven't played in a while, because I can never remember which one's the grenade button straight off the bat. I typically confuse it with the crouch button. Or the aim button. Or the strafe button. Or the first person button. Or the weapon wheel button.

The controls scheme for ARMA 3 was enough for me. It had a free weekend a while back, I installed it to give it a go, played about 25 mins and just went 'nope, done!'. I'm normally fine with tactical shooters like Flashpoint, but there seemed to be about six different variants of every possible action, and very little context sensitivity.
I mean christ, the original Splinter Cell was boasting about context sensitive buttons back in 2003 but it's kind of an expected feature nowadays, especially in a game that's got a shitload of equipment and other required mappings.

Face palm out loud, funny
The main reason i am not playing Spec Ops is because of its nutty cover system that is activated by the sprint button, also you pick guns up with R or something
Jumping on top of small objects in Far Cry is pretty difficult if you stand right next to them

Lessee... I know for a fact that this has happened to me.

Dishonored comes to mind, particularly when I come back from a control scheme a la System Shock 2. I'll try to sneak up on a guard and accidentally multiply their respiratory orifices instead of lifting their daily paycheck. Same thing happens to whatever equipment I may have in offhand, like smoke bombs, and even just accidentally swinging my blade against the wall can screw me over unless I've taken an hour to habituate to the control schemes.

One time in particular, however, and I think one of my friends was watching, involved a couple of guards in the first level. I was in one of the corridors in the sewer, I think, and the one guard had just finished talking to the other. So, down I went, sneaky little puma that I am, and knocked the first guard out without incident. Then I realized the body would be on the patrol route (and dumping him in the waterway would just kill him). So it became a matter of getting around the guard's buddy. My friend wondered where the second guard was by this point, and I, savvy to the level as I was, told him the guard had to be making a full round on the opposite end of the sewer. I rounded the corner, body in tow, and the guard was just standing there with his back turned. For some reason I tried to choke him out and nearly hit him with his comatose companion. Didn't help that my friend was giggling uncontrollably by this point. I went for the strangehold but pulled out a revolver, and came close to blowing his legs clean off. The guard was about to turn when I finally managed a full nelson.

Well, whatever. I still got through the level without killing anyone. And nobody takes that away from me!
