I want to get a new game controller for my PC. I don't like the PS2 style, more into the xbox 360 type of controller (which I'm thinking about getting). I was wondering if the escapist community had any opinions on game controllers (which is the best, what games do they work on etc.) Help?

We've got a PS2 one for the computer, it works well for sports games but I haven't tried it on any other type and I'm not sure that they make them in the the XBox style, they might, I'm just not sure.

The 360 controller for Windows works well for me and can also be used on my 360 as a second controller, which is nice. Some people complain about lack of deadzone adjustment unless you use third party software so be warned if that sort of thing bothers you.

I generally use it for emulators and indie games. The d-pad on the 360 controller is useless, but I hate using the d-pad for anything as I was raised using digital joysticks. I generally map direction controls to the analogue stick.

Is the deadzone easy to correct? Can I use all the buttons on the 360 controller on every game? (except the guide button)

I use my 360 controller with some USB widget thingie that plugs into the PC and enables me to use the control pad wirelessly.

Get a 360 controller with a cable. They are very good.
Do you have one? Had any problems with it? Thats the one I was thinking of getting...
I use a Wired 360 controller I bought for my 360 and it works perfectly

The problem is that it is impossible to change if the default bothers you unless you find new drivers or the game's settings let you configure it. Games and applications that support controllers will normally let you map all of the controls and games for windows games will recognise it without configuration.

But if I have a game where i can configure the buttons, can i use the 360 controller?

How many games does it work on?
It's Windows Plug in and Play so it works with pretty much everything

I'm not up to date on the pricing in Singapore and it's plug in and play, so no drivers and no installs

I managed to get that to work once, I needed a few adapters but yeah, the Wii is a great one too.

I'd still rather use a KB&M or a pad though, my hands are too "shaky".
