Tonight at work me and some of my colleagues had a rather interesting discussion, that I found gave us all quite an enriching look at ourselves. The question starts like this:

Imagine that tomorrow morning, you wake up and find that you are suddenly a member of the opposite gender. That is, if you are male, you wake up as a female and vice versa. Now imagine that as far as the rest of the world is concerned, you have always been the gender you woke up as. Your friends, family, enemies, whatever all believe you've always been this way. You have no way of knowing whether you will ever switch back.
Now here's the question: Do you think that if you were to hook up with a member of your original gender, would it be an act of homosexuality or considering that your entire body has made the transition and everyone around you believes you've always been that way, would it be considered heterosexual?

I'm kind of sitting on the fence with this one, I'd probably feel a bit gay at first, but after a while in think I'd get used to it. Though I don't think I could ever bring myself to wear a dress or skirt.

I want to hear my fellow escapists thoughts on this one. Also, this is intended purely an opinion thread, and not a gay bashing thread, so try to keep it that way.

I would see it as homosexuality, assuming your mind doesn't change as well. I would be just as attracted to females as I am now if my physical body alone changed.

It's up to the person to decide if it's homosexual or heterosexual.
But this is YOU we're talking about, the point of the question is your own thoughts on the matter.

Didn't somebody post a giant explanation thread ages ago about transexuals and sexuality?

They basically said though they want to change gender, it isn't always a case that they are homosexual.

So if they're male and heterosexual (liking women), they become female but still like women.

Well if your mind hasn't changed, it would be no different to you than homosexuality.

Though, I'm an omni/asexual so it doesn't really matter one way or another to me :3

Homosexual, Heterosexual, Bisexual, Omnisexual. It's all just semantics. Love is love.
You sir, have earned my respect with just 2 sentences. Kudos to you.

That is a tough one. I guess it wouldn't be an act of homosexuality, technically; but I'd still feel uncomfortable about it.

Edit: I think I would join the ranks of the lesbians, were that to happen to me, though.

Edit2: Also, I think I would react like this (NSFW content) http://www.sgvy.com/archives/Edda1/Issue1/Page6.html

I find it interesting that it'd be easier for you to have sex with a person of your own gender, than wear different clothes.
If it were me, I'd still feel gay if I were to have sex with a man, even if my body was that of a female. This is because my mind is still male, and I am not sure I could cope with having a woman's body.

Gotta love deep philosophical discussions on things that won't ever happen.

And by that I mean, what a waste of time.
This is pretty much what I thought when I read this.
Still, I think it'd be heterosexuality >_>

Soubds like a reflection of gender identity and sexuality most transfolks have to deal with on one level or another.

Sorry for not being fully versed on the terms, but as I understand it Omnisexuality and Asexuality are polar opposites. You have sex with everything and nothing?

This is more a philosophical question about how you define a person than a question of sexuality.

If I retained my entire mindset, I'd probably end up being a lesbian I guess.
Though what if it didn't just happen to you and the woman you hooked up with ALSO used to be a guy?

I think we have the makings of a freaky Twilight Zone porno on our hands here.

Other than that, er, I think it doesn't matter, not because "it'll never happen" or because "I'd still like the same people" or because "It would be the same to me at least at first" but because a few letters one way or another in some label applied to your choice of partner are just no big deal.

Same for me, except I'm bisexual, so I'd still be attracted to both genders.

Does that answer your question, OP, on my thoughts?
