"Cool Beans"

Recently, I found myself saying, inadvertently, the phrase "cool beans", as a sort of casual affirmative (like cool or fine). I was surprised, since I don't think I've ever heard the phrase, and don't know where it came from.

Does anyone here say this?

Has anyone got an idea where it comes from?

I used to say it a bit.
And for some explicable reason, I now seem to say cake as an answer to most questions. I think I've picked it up from somewhere and it's just stuck since.

I haven't heard that phrase either.

Also no I don't have one, although the two most used phrases in my class are.
"He's sound." (meaning I like him.) and "He thinks he's the pig's trotters." (Meaning he thinks he's great despite the fact he's a dick.)

I tend to say claim that anything that doesn't quite go my way is sheer 'rumours' (an extreme occasion may warrant an accusation of 'malicious rumours'), but it's not as cool as the things some people say.

I say it ironically.

As well as Rad, Radical, Radicool, El Coolos, Deh Bomb and many others. The other night while playing party games with friends I said "I'll take that with a side of chips and dip" after getting a good score.

Yeah, I say it every now and then. I think I first heard it from a friend of mine.

I may have had something else I would say all the time, but I forget what it was. I also say "terrific" a lot.

i dont say cool beans, i do say awesome sauce however as an answer or to refer to something as being rather impressive.
