Jack of Blades - The voice acting and design really sell him, it's really hard to take him for anything more than a jaded, has-been hero until he REALLY wrecks things up.

Sovereign - The most dwarfing speech ever in a game. The feeling of impotence and hopelessness he manages to convey on the first encounter is amazing. Especially when you realize later he was bluffing.

Pyramid Head - I have a hard time calling him a villain because of his motifs. But for sheer design, he's completely mindwrecking.

It's been a while since I played it, so if my memory is a bit wonky, I apologise.

OT: While Gary is certainly a good character, he's not really "cool" to me. Something along the lines of Vergil or the Reapers would probably be good for me.

I agree with the idea of a sequel. Just don't make it "uber realistic" a la GTA4.

Albert Wesker. He has the moves and the accent. He is absolutely awesome. His personality and motivations suit the over the top cartoony writing of the Resident Evil games. Wesker is also one of my favourite video game characters, period.

I know there's a bit of a backlash on the cliched popularity of Portal, but I still have to say that GLaDOS is probably the best villain in a video game I've seen in my 25 years of gaming.
