This happened in November, and happened today. I opened a file I had, and it was corrupted. It doesn't make sense to me, as this document I just started a few days ago, but I had already wrote quite a bit on. When I opened it, there was just a long line of squares.

It doesn't make sense why this keeps on happening. I think I may need a new computer. Somebody I know says it may be a virus. I recently had two, but got rid of them, and after that the document opened normally. I'm hoping I can get that document back. Does anyone know how I can fix a corrupted document on WordPad?

Here's a picture of it, in case it helps: http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=kdrfw0&s=7

Usually when this happens, I can't open it in other things, such as Microfost Whatever, or Notepad.

A couple of questions - can you open other word documents properly, with correct text? And were you using a standard font? The squares usually mean that the font isn't recognised in that word processing program. Try right-clicking on the document and choose Open_as or a relevant alternative

Hope this helps!
