We all know what cosplay is right? Costume play, where people dress up as characters they like and go hang out in them. So, as I've not seen a thread on the escapist about what we do during comicon/dragoncon/eurogamer etc, I figured i'd start one.

I personally cosplay as an imperial stormtrooper. Although I've given him fixer from republic commando's paint job, as a sort of "What if" scenario. In this case, what if the RC squad made it into the new regime. No, i'm nowhere near done with it.

Edit: Obligatory silly hat image. Silly hats are also encouraged.

So escapists, what do you cosplay as? If you don't, what are your favourite things to play as? Images are encouraged, but please post them in spoilers.

For those interested you'll be seeing me at London MCM and possibly Eurogamer, depending on if my friends feel like putting up with me in armour.

Edit: If anyone is interested in the painting of the armour, btw. PM me, i'll send you a link to a place with the pictures. I figured there wasn't a guide around so I provided. If this isn't allowed mods, feel free to remove this message or tell me to.

I've yet to go to an expo yet, but I would love to cosplay while I'm there. My trouble is finding the correct wig. I can't make wigs myself so I will have to buy one. I have pretty much everything else I need for my costume when I do get everything, then I'll gladly go out.

Nice stormtrooper! O:

Same as the first comment, I haven't been to an actual expo yet, but I do own some costumes already, and I do occasionally do so at halloween.

I dressed as Android 17 (From Dragonball Z). I can't find a picture though. D:

I also have a Hatsune Miku costume, and I'm planning on doing a classic spiderman cosplay, but with a twist, at the Escapist Expo in September. :D

I've been to a couple of cons, not sure if I can go to any this year which makes me sad.

Was a very last minute costume. Think I decided in the last week I was going.

I made much more of an effort that time... I hope, lol. Freya from Chobits in case you couldn't tell >.>

They are so much fun. Drain your bloody bank account though >.<

Next Cosplay: Roxie Richer from Scott Pilgrim. I have everything bar the spiked chokers.

That's so cool, I don't think i've ever actually seen anyone play Roxie before, she's definitely a character that not many people play.

Your cosplays are definitely good though. I'm assuming your team rocket one was one of your first? The first time I went I literally shoved on a striped shirt and an eyepatch and called myself a pirate, nobody recognized me :p

Someone suggested I should on my Deviantart page because I apparently look like her xP
Ever since I've seen a few people cosplay her. They've all usually been really thin as well but I think more fuller figured ladies would look better which is why I chose her.

It was my first proper one, yeah xD I would have prepared if I had more time/money. It's soooo expensive e_e luckily I found a fairly cheap site.

I've cosplayed before, unfortunately not had the time to work on an outfit this year. I go to London MCM. I've CP'd Misa Amane from Death Note and Yuuki Cross from Vampire Knight. I'd like to go as Leliana from Dragon Age at some point. She is awesome. ^^

How did I NOT see you there at the Manchester MCM Expo (since last year was the first MCM Expo held in Manchester)??!!

Anyway I intend to go again for third time at Manchester again hopefully cosplaying as Travis Touchdown from the game No More Heroes.
Now I said hopefully cos the only thing stopping my way to cosplay him is his trademark weapon the Bean Katana. I had asked my uncle if he can asked his mate if he could build me a wooden prop version of that weapon (he specalise in making furniture and props).
Without it sadly I won't cosplay him since it would be like cosplaying Cloud from FF7 without his Buster sword.

Well it was quite big. I don't think they anticipated so many people. I was outside a lot because I kept getting claustrophobic and needed to get away from all people trying to hug me all the time xD

Indeed since the inside was small since they expected it to be a small crowd. Apparently they wall off the inside of the building so hopefully they should do that for this year. Yeah I do remember the cosplayers were hanging outside as it was very warm inside due to tight spaces and alot of body heats.
Well either way if I do cosplay or not I won't spend an whole day at the Expo as I made plans with my mates to watch The Dark Knight Rise on the same day.

I'm running to lose weight this summer, and I'm thinking of cosplaying as River Song from Doctor Who in the fall. Mostly because she's awesome...and damn, I love this dress.

Beautiful earth tones and badass head to toe.

Can't say I've ever cosplayed before unless you consider dressing up as Mario and getting drunk one Halloween as cosplaying.

Aye, it would suit quite well methinks, plus it looks like it'd be fairly comfortable to walk around in, which to me, you can probably imagine, is important :p

But yeah, the first one is always something cheap, although I met a guy this year who crafted actual wood shoulderpads for his vault 13 cosplay. That was amazing.

No way! I go to London MCM too, it was my second time going this year and my armour was stark white (so I doubt you'll have recognised me anyway, so many stormtroopers this year). Kudo's on wanting to do my favourite character from DA.

No, because personally I think it looks awful unless you actually somewhat resemble the character.

That's not to say people shouldn't if they really want to, but I don't see the point.

I'm gonna sound like a total dick now, but my computer is arsing around and I was trying to respond to the guy who fixed my image cock up. But anyone who cosplays is like, Massive drawing second place of my favourite person, so score.
No harm done dude, nice spiderman cosplay. I actually saw that photo being taken :p You must have been so hot in that.

No, but if i ever do it will be something lazy no doubt, AKA:
-black trench coat, jeans and leather gloves
-black shirt with logo (I have one with the cyberdyne logo*)
-Dark sun glasses
-My airsoft rifle (M4)
-A cardboard sign saying "generic henchman"

I haven't, no; but I think it'd be fun though. I can't stand crowds though so I can't really see myself going to any conventions however.

Ha ha, you should add a number to the end of that so it'd read "generic henchman #85984

I went to a ren fair as Link to help promote my shieldsmithing business.
Posed for a lot of pictures. That shield weighs about 15 pounds and took a 105-pound longbow dead-center. The archer? The guy who made the bows for Deadliest Warrior.
