My god gaming is getting expensive lately, and with me recently out of employment, I have all day at home to plow through what few games I can afford.
With that little intro into my current situation out of the way, I recently got a huge craving to "up my dex score and get a +3 sword of the whatever" in other words, I really want a nice rpg, I did some research and the only western rpg I havn't beaten to death for the ps3 is "sacred 2"
Basicly I want to know how sacred 2 plays, I know it wasn't the highest rating game ever, but I'm quite forgiving, what I can't figure out however, is if it plays like a typical hack and slash rpg, or if it is more like a rts (click to go here, click to kill, click to click click click)
I also wouldn't mind hearing any other suggestions people have for rpg's, I like both western and jrpg, but I definitly like western better.

Here are the rpg's I already have:

Oblivion
Demon's soul's
dragon age
enchanted arms
borderlands
and I don't own it but iv played through fallout dozens of times
I also rented and beat folklore, great game

thanks in advance!

Oh, and the cheaper the better hehe

Mass Effect 2.

You will not regret it, one of the best games of the last decade.

Fallout 1 and 2 are fun too, if you enjoyed the third give em a try.

If you want good weapons and a true RPG experience stay away from Mass Effect 2.
You could go for Fallout 3 (or the others), Vampire: The Masquerade, maybe even Torchlight.

As a classic I'd recommend Diablo 2.

I'd recommend Fable. Fable 1 and 2 are both good to me, but Fable 1 costs maybe 1$ now for plenty of fun. Why, you can get it from xbox live arcade if you have xbox.

Sorry I forgot to mention I only have a ps3, thanks for everyones suggestions though, is mass effect for ps3? because I have always hated shooters, but since I bought borderlands I'm on a mission to force myself to like at least some of them hehe

I recommend Fable 2. If you can get immersed in it, you'll feel like you actually do have a job! Of Blacksmithing!

Was that too far?

The Shadow Hearts Series
Grandia Series
Dragon Quest Series
Lost Odyssey
Blue Dragon
Golden Sun
Chrono Trigger ( MUST!)
Opoona ( If you have a wii)
Baroque ( Also if you have a Wii)
Xenosaga series ( the first two are under 5 bucks, but the third is hard to find)
Okage
The SHin Megami Tensei Series ( I highly reccomend you Nocturne though the persona series and Devil Summoner series are good too...just Nocturne is better.))

Grandia is my all time favorite game!

but I'm more aiming for games for the ps3, my computer isn't up to par to play even old games on, and my ps2 is on vacation after so many years of faithful service (serieusly, i freakin love this machine!)

I don't have a PS3, but I have heard of a few games.... i'm not sure if their good or not.

Valkyrie Chronicles
Folkore
3D Dot Game Heroes
Various PSN games

Compared to its Japanesse counterpart, the North American PS3 catalog of rpgs are kind of lackluster.

Aww yes valkeyrie chronicles! how could I forget, thanks! sadly it will be hard to find, but I'll keep my eyes peeled.
as for folklore, I forgot to put it in the list because it was only a rental, but yes, an extremely beautiful game, especially in the faery realm, I actually found myself putting down the controller and just taking in the beauty whenever I entered certain areas.

and ya, your telling me the list is lackluster, I don't see why we need a hundred generic shooters but barely a handful of rpg's, I mean I have nothing against shooters, not my cup of tea but whatever, I just don't see why they need all the lime light -sigh- sorry for the rants hehe, any other suggestions?

Disgaea 3

easily one of the PS3's best games, and i've put more hours into it than i have into Oblivion

Really now? sounds good, does it continue on from the other two, because I havn't played them, or is it its own story all together.

heh, "if you enjoyed the third give em a try"..

that's a boobytrap of advice, that is.

I'm trying to think of an analogy to that, but I can't. If you're going to play Fallout 1 or 2, don't play it because you liked 3. Do some research first, and if you still want to play them, all the power to you :)

Each to his own, I played Fallout 3 first, it's my favorite game, then I went back and played the older ones and enjoyed them too.
