so lately for some unknown reason (to myself anyhow) various games on my system have been fucking up and my computer with them, at first I thought nothing of it as it wasn't that frequent but now it's practically every time I try to play them.

it happens with things such as KOTOR and killing floor (and a few others I have forgotten) where I'll just be merrily playing slashing down Sith and blowing up zombies or some other murderous activity when, WHAM, black screen sound goes on has a half second clip on loop for about 3-5 seconds and my computer restarts.

I have no idea what's causing this or why, it just happens out of nowhere and I have no way to fix it.

I was wondering if anyone on here has had this problem and if so have you fixed and how?

Take your computer to a specialist and let it be checked. My computer recently had some minor hickups where some games that worked perfectly before crashed to the desktop without a reason and some graphics issues started popping up - now it's broken. Completely. The GPU is fried and the hard-drive is messed up so all the data is gone, plus some other problems. Repair cost is around 400 Euros.

Could be a few different things. CPU could be overheating, could have bad drivers. Try updating your drivers (especially for your video card) and get a program like SIW and run it while you're gaming, play in windowed mode and keep track of the cpu temp, if it's getting above 60C it may be causing the problem. If you feel comfortable doing it can you get some compressed air and open up your comp and blow out all the fans to make sure they're not clogged with dust and therefore not cooling properly.
