if it's something very illegal and immoral I could probably make myself do it, but minor things I wouldn't care about

for example, I knew a Dutch girl who dealt some soft-core drugs because she couldn't afford to pay for her car payments, and stopped it right after now you wouldn't report that would you? that would be mean as hell, right?

if I found out one of my friends had murdered people, and wanted to go on a spree killing then yah, I'd have them locked up in the blink of an eye

really depends what.

I'd turn my own blood in for breaking the law.

I was raised on the simple principle that you own up to your actions. ALWAYS. If some one does not do this, then they are not worth my time.

NOTE: The only exception is speeding. As long as when you get caught, you own the hell up and pay the ticket, and don't ***** about it.

An impossible question without getting into specifics of the crime.

Edit : If the crime was bad enough, I'd hand them over myself and all the police to my home to arrest them.

Ok say you find out a friend did something illegal (and objectional to you views) and you have the power to send them to prison with this knolage. could you do it? would you do it?
Yes, if they broke the law like killed someone then sure.
(unless they are apart of some crazy gang or something, then I might just write an anonymous tip to the police -_-)

If it were murder, or bank robbery, or something truly awful, then yes. If he downloaded an album, no way.

Depends entirely on what they did but I'm fairly sure if I thought they deserved to be punished I wouldn't have a problem telling the police.

If any person commits a crime which infringes upon the right of another person to achieve success and/or happiness, then they should be reported regardless of my personal attachment to them.

However, if the only person they are hurting is themselves, it is not a matter for authorities.

Depends on the crime.

Something minor...Probably just gonna call him out on it and tell him why what he did was stupid.

But something like selling drugs, or murder, or rape, or some other really serious crime...I would turn in not only my best friend for that, I would turn in my own family. There are some things you just. Don't. Fucking. DO.
Yeah this. Something small is just hassel and a waste of everyones time but a major crime is a big deal and the person responsible needs to pay, no matter who they may be.

Hell no.

Friendship is about trust.
And it frustrates me so few people here share that.
Trust and loyalty aren?t issues. When someone breaks the law they must face the consequence you aren?t helping anyone by protecting them.
You're helping your friend.
(And you very conveniently left out the second part of my post.
Which states that you should help them sort it out, not just blatantly turn them in.)

I have a good friend, and I know he has made some...mistakes.
I helped him solve it, he learned and got better out of it.
He even apologised to the victim.

See I could've turned him in, which would've destroyed his relations with his family, his chance for a good job and would've costed him his girlfriend.

Do you think I should've done that?

It wouldn't be a crime if it was victimless

I would need clearly defined examples rather than "illegal and objectionable".

Since people have brought up murder a lot...

There was a former CEO at the company I work at. Gutted thousands of jobs here when not shipping them overseas. Would buy up companies and then fire everyone but the bare minimum of staff. Everyone else, he lowered their wages while raising his wages and bonuses. He was thrown out when certain ethics abuses became too much for the board to continue covering up and he still got his golden parachute.

If my best friend burst through my door and said "Dude, I saw [that CEO] at a crosswalk and I was so distracted by my mental debate of whether or not to hit the brakes that I didn't hit the brakes. Noone saw me but I freaked and put the body in my trunk then drove here. What should I do?"

In this situation, I'd calm him down. Then we'd get about 2 gallons of gas, take the body to a field with an empty oil drum, put the body and the gas in the drum in that order, then light it and drive off. Just to be sure, I'd then help scrub out the trunk. Maybe buy my friend a beer afterwards.

The point of this example (other than to illustrate that I wouldn't mind some people being shuffled off this mortal coil prematurely) is that I would need a more specific example than "illegal and objectionable" because there are always exceptions to the rule and there's further that I would go for some friends than others.

Not unless I was legally required to do so.

True friends don't come cheap. I'd berate them and do what I could to steer them off the course, and I wouldn't actively protect them; but nor would I sell them out.

Depends. DId something small? Hell no, a criminal record would mess with his life. Did something unacceptable? I don't know. Probably. Nobody really knows answers to questions like that on a whim. (most)People who claim they do would react quite differently in a real situation.

Tons of "crimes" are victimless. Especially in countries this sites users don't usually come from.

Yes, I would, and yes, I have done.
End of the day, it was for their own good, and the good of others.
