I've heard that they actually do see it as a problem and are trying to come up with a solution, but they've only failed or become stumped at that mark.

You know its not sad that he loved a 2D girl. Yeah shes not real but how is she any different from everyones casual love for a celebrity? Sure those people are real but you wont ever ever have them so they may as well be just as unatainable. Same goes for crushes with the most beautiful guy/girl in school/work. Its like yeah porn stars are real but its just a video your watching yet we are moved. I think im getting my point across.

No no my freinds. The sad parts are two things here but the last being the saddest.

1) The real wife axed the man's long time "love" as a complete surprise so that she may have him 100%.
Poor guy teared and did it becuase of either the embarassment of defending his 2D love or becuase he really did decide its time to move on. But the saddest part?.....................

2) No one who loves a 2D girl has just the one thing to obcess over.
Its never just his love plus game. You bet your life he has a collection of hentai, eroge, and adult VN's stashed away as well, if not figues and love pillows of his beloved. Its never just "oooo a game with a girl i love in it yay, ill only ever have just this one thing to satisfy me!!". Again its like a porn stash, does anyone ever just own one single dvd or one mag? No no no, he has a stash.......i wonder if she is getting rid of it all, I hope he was able to salvage his collection. Only the hardcoriest of fans tells their real life girlfreind about thier secret love.

Pray for his collection ladies and gentleman, pray for every DVD, BD, light novel, and assorted merch.

Ok, I was kinda worried there for a minute.

1) Man has a virtual girlfriend he was deeply connected to and for some reason told his real-life girlfriend about.
2) Woman is so jealous about this that she insisted on destroying it during the wedding in a very public and violent ceremony, which she might've planned behind her new husband's back.
3) Both of them decided giving it its own seat/invite/etc. was a good idea, though clearly for completely different reasons.

If you ask me, the virtual girlfriend, even in its current state, is the least broken person in this story. It's a pile of code, silicon, and JPGs and yet it's the only one in the story I feel sorry for and definitely the only one I would be comfortable holding a conversation with.
Because there's no way this was an inside joke that the groom just wasn't let in on beforehand, right?

that is beside the point.

OT: so the stupidity of holding men as slaves you can do whatever you want with continues? all hail marriage?

How, exactly? Because it seems to me that people here are taking this much more seriously than those involved. But hey, any excuse to point fingers and judge/laugh...

It stops being a joke when you're destroying someone else's property.

IT does not matter if it was a joke to her, she is still one very sick individual for doing it.
they may not take it seriously, most psychopaths dont either.

Of course he had to kill her over honour, oh Japan.

At least he has a great line for later arguments, "I'll killed for you!"
The true tragedy of this story is that the Virtual Girlfriend was denied the opportunity to "Press X not to die".

Oh, the humanity!

It's not the destruction of the game that bothers me, it's the guy's girlfriend basically pressured him into doing it. If she's jealous of a virtual girlfriend, what happens if this guy actually talks to another girl? If she discussed this with him before hand and asked him to do this as a sign of moving on from 2D to the real world, that's fine. But this seems like a dirty move by the gf.

Wow, everyone's taking this so seriously.
I thought it was kinda funny.

EDIT: To avoid low content.
So... yeah.
That happened.

so the guy who married a game got a real girlfriend? well that sounds great.
Different guys.

OT: This is no sillier than dozens of other weird things people decide to do at their weddings. The idea that you should make your wedding day unique in some way (and/or express yourself through it) seems to be increasingly popular. Getting married dressed as zombies, having the rings delivered by an owl, and cakes shaped like video game characters are all pretty run-of-the-mill now.

I have to smile a little bit that the reason many people give for going mad on their wedding day is, "Well, you only get to do it once!" A third of marriages in the UK (and half in the USA) end in divorce. So it's not too unlikely that you'll get a chance to do this all over again. ;)

People are taking this seriously?

Really?

Oh internet, you never fail to surprise me :D

OT: I can just picture the guy keeping all the pieces from the broken game, then repairing the game, rather poorly, and starting some kind of sordid affair with the technological equivalent of a corpse...

Love Plus Hammer, the exciting new entry into the series. A Virtual Reality game where you roleplay as a dude who've gotten way too attached to a virtual girl, who suddenly get married to a woman who takes "her" even more seriously. Hilarity and possibly sectioning ensues.

Next he should hand her his spine, testicles, privacy, dignity, pride, fantasy, desire, pretty much everything that he enjoys or owns for himself because she's made her mark, and he is her ***** now.

Now if it had been her things and he demanded she destroy them for him he'd be a monster.
