I don't put much stock in reviews these days, ever since competitive multiplayer shooters with lackluster campaigns like CoD and Battlefield and Halo actually started getting 10/10s, despite the gaping flaws of a lacking single player, that should be put into the scores...But, I'm worried. And I digress.

7s are fine. 7s are perfectly functional games. But the REASONS for the scores are what's scaring me...

It's basically a carbon copy of the first, with even more mundane objectives, slightly better gunplay, a glider, and 4 player co-op. And seems...uglier.

I was hoping that the game would expand from the repetition of the demo...But now, I'm not so sure. I LIKED the demo, but at the same time, I felt that all of my objectives were too similar. And indeed, that the game's shift in art style, caused it to lose...something.

Now...I'm getting worried. Especially after Jim Sterling's 4.5/10 on Destructoid. I actually AGREE with most of his scores, from his 10/10 for Deadly Premonition, to his low scores for much-hyped letdowns.

What are your thoughts, people? Should I be worried? Are YOU worried, fellow Crackdown fans?

I'm not worried, if the missions are repetitive then I'll do lots of random stuff with my mates.

Besides I find it quite fun dropping off two guys then flying my helicopter overhead blasting a bunch of freaks and cell as my mates take care of the ground assault.

Hypnotoad, If you get Crackdown 2 you MUST play it with me.

Im getting it, I loved the first (Unexpectedly, I only bought it for the Beta) and the 2nd looks really good.

I played the demo and loved it, I loved just running around upgrading my skills.

I had loads of fun with my mates in the demo, the game looks like it will get rid of my boredom for a couple of months.

I need others to get this game or I'll be bored then. And as far as I know, no one I know is getting Crackdown 2

I did find the free roam and the mindless carnage, coupled with the havoc engine were great fun. If I get a good personal recommendations from friends, I might have to lend someones 360.

Played the demo with a friend, and was pretty bored. I kept thinking maybe its better once I learn the controls more, then the demo ended..
If the rest of the game is like the demo then I'm not all to interested.

A commenter in the destructoid review said the game is a no sale because they don't plan to play it cooperatively. Since I already have a few friends I plan to play this with, I feel the shortcomings and repetitiveness won't degrade the experience of throwing cars at people with friends.

That being said, I'm also not looking forward to many other games coming out this month, so I'm low on options.

I'm not worried about this game as it's not on my radar, but in regards to reviews in general, yes, I am worried. Or at least I feel that I can't trust them. Mediocre games are getting 9s. Something's wrong with that.

I wouldnt trust any of those reviewers. I didnt play the first game because of the missions or story it was for the mindless carnage and once in awhile i get to take on a bosses place. I definatly prefered the old art style but its not a big enough change to make me not try the game.

Right so crackdown 2 comes out and alot of other games that look terrible.
Monkey Island 2? Deathspank? Blazblue 2? Another amazing 2D Castlevania?

Yep. That's all so...terrible.

I loved the first one and loved my first few playthroughs of the demo , but now that i`m actually starting to explore i`m starting to worry , the same niggles from the original crackdown it seems and beyond opening a few major buildings up for the freak strongholds it`s more or less exactly the same , i think i`ll rent it first

Everyone's saying it's exactly the same as the first.

The demo was alright - controls are annoyingly unresponsive or oversensitive though.

I'm not really looking forward to it to say the least. Crackdown was a nice game, but now it's trying to expand on itself and I suspect it going the way of the sequel that tried too hard.

If this installment is a letdown that will be a shame, I enjoyed the first one quite a lot...

Although even if it is just a carbon copy of the first with some new toys and a fresh new chapter for the story, taking the route of the Left 4 Dead series, it will still make the game fresh enough to enjoy for a while, it might not be perfect but destroying the city all over again with new stuff to destroy it with...they could have done worse I think.

Huh, game reviewers seem to be agreeing with my prediction from the initial announcement. This hasn't happened before. Scary.
Seeing as most review sites don't even award below 6, 7 is really not worth my time, not that I had any plans of playing it anyways, Crackdown was ok though it left me with no desire to play any more of it, even if they added a shiny 2 to the title.

Well, I have at least one mate who's going to play it with me. So there's that.

There aren't many games quite like this when it comes to co-op. I had fun with the first one, and it if this is more of the same, I'll likely enjoy it as well. If I had 2 other mates getting it, then I would be set.

I won't say I'm not disappointed that they didn't at least try a little bit to upgrade the graphics or expand the game a bit, but I mostly get it to jump around the city, blow up bad guys and throw cars with my friends.
