I never played the first one and I never will after playing 2. My biggest complaints? NPCs spamming me with grenades/rockets making it impossible to move (same thing with some of the Freaks who knock you over and keep hitting you while you're down). Lack of visual clues as to which windows you can/cannot grab onto. Difficulty in jumping sideways off a ledge - he only seems to want to go straight up or down. Why can't I fast travel from a helicopter pad - I can request weapon/vehicle drops, but not a quick ride to the other side of town? Total lack of onscreen map - have to pause all the time to make sure you're still headed in the right direction. Fun for a few hours and then it just gets frustrating and boring.

I felt the first one was better. In the second one there were no boss fights and no actual difficulty curve in the game, just more missile troops. Also the freaks were too easy to kill, and the only one that took more than one hit to kill never attacked you. Also they did not fix any of the lock on problems or grabbing problems. Though some of the additions like the improved melee, helicopter and flight suit were good.
