Cracked's hosting malicious malware?

So, I went to Cracked.Com, and I found it was... Well, determined to be Malware-infested by Chrome. I have no idea what's going on, can someone explain this to me?

Sometimes even legit sites get infected. Normally is via advertising but could be lots of things. I've had ebay take down my machine before. Hopefully it's nothing too major or hard to fix. Cracked helps me kill time at work when I don't feel like being productive.

Same here, I tried both Firefox and IE. Can't say I'm surprised with all the trash Cracked pages link to.

Go Escapist though, I searched the problem on Google and this thread was one of the first results.

I looked at the extended info from Chrome and it pointed to several sites that Cracked links to:

XXXphotoserver110.ru XXXkxtds.com XXXbondcontracts.biz

I've placed "XXX" in front of each one in case somebody clicks one by mistake, which would be a very bad idea.

It appears that these are ad-server sites, or something like that. In any case, it's not Cracked per se that's turned evil.

I don't think anyone in their right mind would assume as much anyway. Any person who frequents Cracked knows that there are several ads on several pages which seem to come from ad servers all around the internet.

Something like this was bound to happen eventually.

It shows up on other web browsers too. Stay well clear until the warning page is removed.

I'm glad you posted this, wackymon. I sometimes check out cracked on my lunch breaks. I guess I'll hold off on it for the next few days.

The site's been fixed for a while now. Just checked and got no warnings.

This is actually happening a lot as something in the advertising of a site gets flagged for malware. I've run into it at least 5 times this year on sites ranging from fan news to webcomics.
