[HEADING=2]PLOT SUMMARY[/HEADING]

This movie starts off right where the first one left off. Chev's body is recovered and he gets his heart more taken from his body by the Chinese mob in the area. He wakes up with the Chinese giving him an artificial heart that needs to be constantly pumped full of electricity. If is runs out of power it stops and Chev dies.

I guess you could say that this poster is ELECTRIFYING

[HEADING=2]ACTION[/HEADING]

The action is very similar to the action from the first movie. It still has really good hand to hand and stunt driving just like the first film, but there is a noticeable increase in budget. There is significantly more blood and gore in this film then the first and the effects for those are FAR superior. The action gets a bit more inventive and some really sick horrible stuff happens that made me feel like I was going to vomit. Like the stripper scene (When you see it you will know what I mean.) Like the first movie the action gets so over the top and crazy that it is unbelievably funny. Seriously these movies make me laugh more then the FAR majority of comedies. Also the GTA vibe is in this film as well for all the same reasons as the first and it adds a bit to it with the police beat downs and well.. grand theft auto that occurs in this movie. Also there is a lot more stunts driving in this film then the first one and far more of the stunt driving is used in really good chase sequences with the villain. Also there are a couple extra stylized action scenes. One prime is example is when the action cuts to a Godzilla like fight scene where Jason Statham becomes a five hundred foot tall guys in a stylized costume of HIS SELF and he fights a five hundred foot tall Chinese mobster who is wearing a mask with an altered version of his face on it. There are quite a few weird scenes like that in the film as I will talk about later.

[HEADING=2]THE CHARACTERS AND ACTING[/HEADING]

Jason Statham's Chev is the same we as the first movie and we don't really learn anything new about him except a really funny scene about his childhood. One thing that bothers me is that they got rid of the quiet moments the remind you the Jason can act. We learn a bit more about Amy Smart's character, but it doesn't really matter. The villains of this film are a lot less interesting then that of the first. Verona wasn't much of a character, but he had a charm to him that is now totally gone. The new villains are blander and I think I know the reason why. The D.V.D scene in the beginning of the first one is really well done and it makes it feel like things really got personal. You really want to freaking murder him. These villains never have a scene like that which really establishes them and makes you really want Statham to kill them.

Jason Statham is into some wierd stuff...

[HEADING=2]RANDOM OTHER COMMENTS ABOUT THE FILM[/HEADING]

This movie, like the first one, has a pretty cool soundtrack. One thing I really have to say about this film is that they really amped up the amount of jokes. The jokes are very hit or miss though and sometimes the duds ruin perfectly good scenes. This is why the ending of this film is far inferior to the first film's ending. Also they make a few jokes that are about equal to the most horrific dead baby joke ever in terms of how dark they are. Especially one scene involving a therapist that happens toward the end. Also the film and the way they advertised it adds a grindhouse vibe to it.

He didn't die

[HEADING=2]Final Verdict[/HEADING]
If you like the first movie this is worth checking out, but I found it to be inferior due to the dud jokes that ruin a few scenes that would have been good without them.(Like the ending)

Well there is a huge difference that almost noone seems to mention, the first movie is sci-fi this one is just fiction, i.e. it is at no point in time connected to reality.

As a huge fan of the first one I muddled through this one and I see what they did, but I just really hate fiction.

Uhh, I haven't heard fiction as a term used to describe a movie like this before.
It's an action movie. Action.
Sci-fi movies are fictional. As in...not real. Hell, it literally stands for Science-fiction, so if you're going to call a genre of movies fiction, it would be that one.

Both Crank 1 and 2 are action movies.

Fiction and science-fiction are different genres, before IMDB was updated these movies were labeled appropriately.
And movies are never labeled with a single genre, so "action" is only part of it.

I don't think it was as entertaining as the first one, likely because it's not as fresh.

I also liked how in the first film, in order to stay alive, he had to keep his adrenaline going.

In this one, he's told explicitly that doing crazy stunts will kill him, but does them regardless.

Also, what?

This is why the ending of the first film is far inferior to the first one.

Fiction seems to be quite an unnecessary label. Of course it's fictional, that doesn't describe what the movie is actually about or the genre.

Thanks for mentioning the error. And yeah I do feel like the premise of the first one was far better. Also this film had less memorable scenes. The first film's ending is one of my favorite action movie scenes.
