I have one co-worker at work who doesn't do shit or when she does she takes freaking forever.

For those on the escapist that have jobs do you have co-workers like this where you work or are you one of those who do nothing.

There is a woman I work with who has been there for nearly 3 months and still has no bloody clue what the hell she's doing. It drives me crazy because for every time I think we've gotten her to memorize something, she forgets two things, or asks 4 stupid questions.

I'm a cook, and I work the main station on the front line. I'm responsible to not only deal with the three ovens and the heaps of food constantly going through, but to call for all orders, any 911 orders, toast (sure, doesn't sound difficult, but having to listen to twenty plus people constantly asking "Is there toast in?" or "Can you put the toast in the warmer?" is incredibly annoying), and deal with the managers, waitresses, take-out/delivery, and expo. It's probably the most frustrating station, or position to work during a rush.

Unfortunately, I rely on other people to do my job well and efficiently. But I'm surrounded by people who simply don't get it. They have shown no signs of improvement over several months, have no motivation to improve, don't care about their job and responsibilities, or don't respect their fellow co-workers. It's incredibly frustrating to have to deal with all the drama of other people to get through a shift.

Another huge pet peeve is when people complain when they are asked to do their job. I'm so sick of all the teenagers whining about having to do something, instead of leaning against the counter all night. I'm not a slave driver, but I do expect people to do the bare minimum, y'know, the job requirements.

The thing that should have tipped you off is that most teenagers(or at least one I know) think they are entitled to a pay check and shouldn't have to do work to do it.

Thats pretty typical in the work world, its best to just let it go and do your work, they'll get fired eventually.

Oh yes, I'm well aware of this. :|

But you know, it's not just the teenagers. I said teenagers, as they're the most frustrating, but to be accurate, in my work place, the majority of kitchen employees are grown adults, quite a few being parents actually. It's just mind-boggling sometimes...

I work part-time in a supermarket. Do I have to say more?

It actually isn't all that bad. Even when my coworkers don't do much shit, as long as I'm being payed for overtime ( I usually just work on weekends during school year, or one or two weekday evenings) I don't care if I have to do a little bit more work.

Most people in my department pull their weight more or less, or at least serve as distractions for fucking customers.

In this city, quality is nearly non-existant, and standards are mythical. The restaurant I work at makes the most money, ever, for the franchise. We're extremely busy, and because of that, we get away with low quality, poor service, and the such. Now, because of this, the shitty employees don't get fired.

Ah well, eventually I'll have a career, doing what I love, and until then I guess all I can do is grit my teeth and deal.

I had a women who recently quit because she thought my boss was being "to hard on her" when all she was doing what trying to train her to eventually work at the same speed as anybody else...To be honest, it wouldn't bother me so much if she just had the decency to tell us herself. She made her husband come in and tell us that she was quitting just to avoid us.

I had one that would corner you and tell boring stories. I never saw her at her desk... I'm not even sure she had one... she was kind of like a Bard of dull personal tales.

Holy shit, can I tell you guys about worthless/idiotic co-workers! I have many stories to tell, in fact. I remember them so distinctly, because the people I've worked with...there's no way I can forget them. I just fucking can't.....

Consider that a tease. It's late over in my time zone, so I'll save the hilarity for tomorrow morning. Trust me, I'll be back tomorrow. There's no way I'd pass up a topic like this. ;)

oh damn that's just weird, I rather like what I have seen of the job I want so far, because if someone slacks off or isn't good enough they get fired rather fast.

I'm envious!

Well, good luck with your prospective job! One day I hope to be in the same position. :)
