Lately I have purchased quite a few PSN games.
One in particular has taken up hours of my time, I'm talking about a game that has made me want to quit while in a Search and Destroy match of COD: WAW , a game that has answered most of the online gamers wishes for simplicity and all out mayhem.
This game is no other then (Drum roll please)........ Crash Commando!
This game is in some way like Warhawk, there are 2 factions, no reason why they are fighting, multiplayer focused and most of all there both about all out mayhem in blowing the other team to smithereens.
But now onto what makes Crash Commando unique
Firstly the game is a 2D shooter; you walk with the left stick and aim with the right stick much like another shooter.
Your movement is just perfect for the maps and game modes provided but if you ever feel like getting off the ground there's always the trusty jetpack, a very useful piece of equipment that is infinite but needs to take a break every time you use it plus it allows a very awesome move that makes you do somersault's in at extremely fast speeds. (Developers please know this every gamer loves jetpacks)
Your weapon set is the standard:
? Assault rifle
? Rocket launcher
? Grenade launcher
? Pistol
? Knife
? Sniper rifle
? Shotgun
? Grenades
? Mines
? C4
? And a very interesting weapon that is like a laser ,it heals allies but really hurts enemies it's called the CAB
Plus there are 2 special weapons that can only be found on the maps
The Chain gun (Dam it's awesome)
And a futuristic rapid fire laser rocket launcher (BEWARE)
(there's also powerup's when you stay alive long enough or kill enough people e.g. Speed, Regenrative health and super jetpack move)
So that's the weapon set and movement on foot covered
Now onto Graphic's
The game has cartoony graphics but there is a lot of gore so think worms with blood and chunks everywhere.
So the graphic's overall are pleasing but I did notice some frame rate hiccup's when there's too much mayhem on screen although it never broke the flow of the game.
Onto Gameplay:
Since it's a 2D shooter you will need to get used to things but it only took me about 20 minutes to get comfortable with the controls so there's no complaint's there.
The modes are
TDM
DM
And map objectives which is the main part of the game's online
In map objective you either play hacking or demolition, in hacking you must get to one of the many bases on the map then start hacking the terminal. Things you should know are that you can only hack one base at a time meaning you must first complete the objective at Base A before you have a reason to move to Base B and you can't move while hacking so you're a sitting duck if you're in the middle of Objective but you can abort the hack anytime. After hacking the terminal you must return to HQ and upload the data, needless to say that all this is happening while the other team is stopping you at whatever the cost. The same goes for demolition except instead you are blowing terminal's up and your teammates can do multiple terminal's at a time all though you must do one base at a time again.
So the modes are all great and really fun I have no complaints about them.
But the thing that I love the most about Crash Commando is that anyone can pick up the pad and kick ass at unimaginable scale's, meaning that whatever your age or skill you can be the top of the team !
Now onto the final point:
Is it worth your 8 Bulks?
Yes every penny and even if you don't have online you can still play against bots so go ahead and buy this game i promise you that you won't regret it (very smart and skilled bots may I add)
Plus theirs trophies !!
