We've all been to a paint shop or maybe an art class. But have you ever been in there and found a colour name that was so crzy that you had to write it down and remember it? Well post the name here and we will see who has the craziest (going online and finding some is totally ok too)!

My exmaple and choice is a colour called Lamp Black. (How are lamps black by the way?)

You just suppose to find names for colours that are weird and funny, thats it.

Not only is Gendale a strange sounding color name, it's a strange color. It was discovered by LSD guru Timmothy Leary while on an acid trip, and it's not a part of the normal visible spectrum. So pretty much, you either have to be on an acid trip to see it, or be dreaming or something.

I worked in a paint department last summer and if you would have asked this a year ago, I would have had a friggin' million of them.. right now I can only remember one. It was this really horrible neonish green, something that you see skanks wearing as eyeliner. And it's name?

Lady Of The Night

Awesome.
One of my friend's made some mixture of nail polish that she loves, and she refers to it (jokingly) as "Lady of The Night Red".

Did they mean 'soot'? 'Lampblack' is the old fashioned work for soot, because lamps used to be made from oil, which produces soot when burned for light. =)

Apologies for the history lecture - I just love old words like that!

Back on topic, I like that car paint colour called Vermillion Fire - it's a really cool colour, and a sweet name...but it becomes crazy when such an exotically named colour is driving around on a Honda Civi or whatever =P
