I recently watched one of Movie Bob's "Game Overthinker" videos where he argued that games should be more like they used to be in the days of the earlier consoles, when bizarre, colourful platform games and side-scrollers that make no logical sense were the norm. Mario, Kirby's Dreamland, and so on, but also stuff like Double Dragon where urban street gang settings give way without warning or explanation to haunted forests and temples of doom.
What do people think about it? I realise it's a very popular view that games need to have more originality and more interesting colour palettes, that's not what I'm asking. I mean do people want a return of the REALLY nonsensical shit that you found in those old console games?
Personally, I agree with Bob to some extent, but I don't think games need to be totally crazy in order to be original and interesting.
Sorry there's no link, I can't remember which video it was.
