While I am a man of many interests when it comes to gaming, there has always been a genre that gave me a swift kick to the balls when it came to what I liked most, the story, and that has always been shooter games. Now, while many of them have had great and interesting stories(Ex: the Half-Life series) or gameplay to make up for the lack of a real story(Ex: Shadow Warrior, Duke Nukem, 3D Realms games in general), most just...don't. But, since I really enjoyed the gameplay of Gears of War, I picked up the second one around Christmas time, started playing it last week, and finished it yesterday.
Alright, now that the intro is over...
Gears 2 is a really good game in general, yes. The series introduced some very new concepts, and a few small jokes(killing people who wear helmets).
Gears 2 plays basically the same way as the first, using a cover system, and varied guns, all of which are capable of doing certain things. There is just generally way too much drama involved, unfortunately. The only part of the drama in the game which even mildly effected my emotions was the part underground about Dom's wife(trying to avoid spoilers.)
The gameplay in these games are simply amazing, in my opinion. While some things are a bit sloppy, such as putting the take cover control and the sprint control on A by default, the cover system actually works, which is a new sort of concept in games. =P
I'm gonna try to keep this short and sweet by ending it now, but, one last thing: If I had to give it a number, I would say 7/10.
