So here's the deal. Create a complex, elaborate, interesting species, or two, or seven, and you could win my everlasting appreciation! Feel free to take from other posts for inspiration, just be sure to quote. Mine is: The Not-Humans.

The Not Humans

The Not humans are the other side of every human. They are the elegant side, the beautiful side, and the dark and dangerous side They are the side of every human that takes pleasure in torturing a spider. Thier society is constantly changing, and it's every man for themselves. They thrive on the world being diffirent each day. If they were to ever just stop, than they are afraid thier hard-built society would collapse. So assasins are in high demand, and rulers only last a few months before they go. But there is something they fear. It is the good among them. Those who would stop and help those who had fallen. Stop? Blasphemy! These good beings are the parrelels to those on our Earth who would fully embrace the darkness inside them. And so, they circle their not-sun on thier not-Earth, being circled themselves by the not-moon, and the screams of the good bounce hollowly off thier walls.

A nomadic civilisation of photophobic quadrupeds that inhabit a planet which takes exactly 3.7 months to rotate fully on its axis. They burn in direct sunlight, so they move entire cities every time the sun is close to rising.

They navigate by touch, smell and taste. They have 6 foot long prehensile tongues which they use to scour the area in front of them as they move to detect obstacles or points of interest. These tongues also have small hooks upon their surface which they use to drag things around, or ensnare them for lifting. Their prey, quite unfortunately, only comes out in light so they harvest them en masse during the day-long dusk of their planet and store them for consumption over the next few months. They reproduce upon death: the tongue detaches from inside the body and squirms away, a larva, and forms a chrysallis in which it matures into the adult form. During their gestation period these pupae are carcinogenic and actually create most of the diseases that taint the planet.

They live in ugly, dense cities built on floating platform nations constructed of a naturally buoyant glass that comes from vitrifying sand from the planet's abundant deserts. The cities are bound to the crust by large chains which are removed and dragged away when it is time to relocate. They are known as the Photolytes.
