Just list the things you think should or are associated with nerds (of all kinds, excluding otakus which is pretty obvious how their nerd-ness manifests).

First thing I would put in the list is: minatures!

Just add anything you think is associated with us great among sub-categories of humanity!

Is this basically a "You know you're a nerd if..." thread?

Because in that case: You have several decorations in your room from at least one of your nerd hobbies. You have a collection of Pokemon cards and Magic cards which you do not use or sell, but you want to keep "just in case". You have the boxes of all your PC games regardless of whether or not they contain anything. There is at least one drawing lying on your desk of some fantasy or sci-fi dude you drew while doing nothing in particular. Your fridge has Mountain Dew in it regardless of your age. You still have and enjoy Cheetos regardless of your age.

Think of the thread as what would Comic-Book-Guy from the Simpsons have in his house and what would his approach to all things be like. (remember we are talking about a guy who for his MA thesis translated portions of Tolkien's books into Clingon....)

He'd probably have translated it straight. Most people would need to translate the Elvish into their first language, then translate again to Klingon. He would just do it straight from one to the other, no need to pass through such a base and wasteful language like English...

a) I don't have either of those, but I still have an old Three-Dragon Ante deck that I shuffle around occasionally.

b) Not really. I usually throw away the box and keep the game in its most base packaging, from the DVD case to the old Jewel cases. I have a copy of Stonekeep, though. And I still play it.

c) No, seeing as I can't draw. I do, however, have notes and maps for a D&D campaign I'm working on, as well as the outline for an unfinished fanfic.

d) Ugh, no. Mountain Dew is way too sweet, and Cheetos get old after a while. No, I have Ginger Ale, Tea, Sake, Japanese Instant Rice, Miso Soup, and Cape Cod Salt and Pepper kettle chips for drinks and snacks.

No, I'm partial to the concept of Anthropomorphics, though not to the extent of creepy suits. I blame my childhood, being raised on Sonic and Starfox.

Michael, none of these are describing me. Nor are they meant as a stereotype. I though that key word here was create your nerd. I'm simply describing a nerd I created. For the record I hate Mountain Dew (I'm also a tea man), my Magic Cards are in storage somewhere and I will likely sell them at some point on Ebay or the like (they're very early editions), I do have all my old empty boxes of PC games, and I very frequently have doodles of almost anything around my desk considering I'm a drawing and painting major (I keep all my campaign notes in my laptop so they stay organized).

EDIT: And yes I realize this contradicts my point in my previous post about me saying they were "you know your a nerd when..." slightly.

I have none of those
Lost all my Pokémon cards, never had a Magic deck.
I always keep the cases for my PC games, just dont know where most of them are.
Cant/dont draw.
Cant buy Mountain Dew in Ireland, dont eat cheetos.

If there are no's to everything on this list then there's something wrong with you. Oh and counting specific stuff never works, for instance I hate and have nothing to do with Pokemon. With my list every nerd has a yes in there.

I heard that Tolkien based his elvish language on Finnish, so I would think that any Fins out there would do a better job at a translation.
