Look, first of all, this is nothing I am absolutely sure about doing. It just seems like a fun idea. Im just throwing it out there, see what you guys think.

Now the thing is, I came across this programme, AGS, Adventure Game Studio. It's basically a development tool for adventure games, like the ones back in the day. Ive been fiddling around with it, learning a trick or two and trying out a few ideas of mine.

Wouldnt it just be awesome to make your own game? A complete, full-length adventure game, built around a story youve created yourself. Imagine all the hard work, I mean, wow. So appealing. Really. Pouring all the free time you can spare into that kind of a project. Awesome.

But I started thinking that it would be even more awesome to do it along with a few buddies. Just for fun, not for profit. Two, three writers, one or two programmers, a few artists, animators, and if were being deliciously awesome, voice actors too.

The fact that it would be just for fun is the most appealing part about it. A team of people who dont even know eachother, working together and creating something unique. It's quite an accomplishment, too. Surely most companies, no matter their trade, values that kind of devotion and passion in their possible employees.

So I thought i might as well check out the Escapist, see if there's any interest among you guys. I mean, I know I'll have no trouble finding writers here, but Im more interested in artists and programmers.

Anyone?

Again, this is not something that Im definately going to do. But if there's interest, I really think this could be an incredibly fun thing to do.

TLDR: Is there interest among my fellow escapists to make an old school adventure game along with complete strangers? Artists, Programmers, Designers, Writers, or just people with ideas?

I've never done any game designing work, but im pretty good at art in general and im getting fairly good at using photoshop and stuff, so im not going to say PICK ME but yeah, im interested in game design and I like your vision =D
But then again apparantly im as creative as a rock, which I think is a bit unfair

Check out DeviantART.com, alot of great artists there that use digital-based programs to create amazing pieces of art.

Good luck if you go through with it !

Yeah, I was thinking of trying my luck at DeviantART, figure there might be someone willing to participate in my potential project there.

Thanks a lot for your post, still!

I can draw pretty damn good.

Unfortunately I have no means of showing it since I don't have a scanner or camera :(

Pick me! Pick me! xD
I don't know if I'll be available at the time, but if you don't find anyone better in the art department you can count me in :p
I posted some stuff here, haven't been very active though.

I was going to post about how ideas are a dime a dozen and anyone planning to make a game is going to have to put in some serious time as either artist, programmer or level designer.

Then I realized I'm making my own Facebook game and I'm nearing the point where I need to recruit artists and programmers. So I really have no moral high ground here :p

I am interested in writing, directing or design. I'd say I do okay in all of them, and have drawbacks in all of them. But yeah, I might be interested. I'll need to check out AGS first, though, see what kind of stuff you can do with it. I'll get back to you on this. If you want me, just friend me and we'll talk.

I'd love to do some writing, if this ever gets going. I've no experience programming, coding, or ever using one of these tools to make a game, but writing I can do.
