Creativity with Superpowers

I only recently had the pleasure of obtaining InFamous, and very recently, an hour before this new decade, the pleasure of beating it (I went Hero, it's just my thing). Most of the time I caught myself thinking "Man, this guy can project and control electricity! I know the game designers want you to be challenged, but I can't help but feel that this guy could get a lot more pwning done with some imagination."

So recently I was thinking of something else (a superpower) that was broad, and had a lot of potential, but is generally a limited ability without enough creativity.

I ended up choosing control of vibration, in general. I was wondering what you members of the Escapist thought could be done with the ability to manipulate vibration. Also, if you don't want to use the given power, pitch something and give some examples.

I'm hoping this should be fun. I figure that vibrational control is basically sound control, with a good ear and practice with the power. Also temperature, and maybe turning the air into solid mass. But I'm not sure.

The game is afoot.

I'd like the ability to tell what song somebody's listening to on the bus so I could criticize their taste in music.

You can create heat anywhere.
If it is full control, and not just the power to create vibration, you can freeze things.

Vibration is kinetic energy.

You have the force.

Go nuts.
Just thought of that. Really, you can tear apart matter, or assimilate it, right? I know you probably don't have the ability, but do you think there'd be a need for extreme molecular awareness to do that?

(Basically yes, you have full control)

I was just thinking how useful it would be to make a potential enemy realize the crushing nothingness of absolute zero.

On a side note; does anyone know of any superhero comic-book characters or anything that have full vibrational control?

Well...I do know that The Flash can vibrate so fast that he can phase through walls and solid objects...

Obi Wan Kinobi?

Well, I'll stick with the power of Healing if I had a power.

The ability to warp the speed of reality itself.
In lay-mans terms: The ability to slow or hasten things.
I'd totally be the best green mage in Final Fantasy.

Hm, what applications could ol' Cole MacGrath have done to make his life easier in InFamous if he understood things a bit better...

Also, would the thrusters and the shield thing really be possible, or were those just thrown in for fun?

Oh! I just remembered! Sheen, from Jimmy Neutron had vibration powers after they went through that cloud when he was in the vibrating chair.

He really didn't use those powers with much forethought.

But if that would suck up the energy of everything around him/her! That person would radiate cold like the sun radiates heat. Ow...

Control like that means you can speed up or slow down anything, or add or remove energy in the form of heat or force.

This means, you are a potentially time travelling Jedi who can blow people up in a hundred million different ways just by thinking about it.

A super power that lets you shoot flaming goats form your hands that explode on contact into a shower of acid.

A super power that allows you to incinerate peoples brains inside their heads.

A super power that breaks all the atomic bonds in their being and turns them into a pile of fine atomic dust.

(I got rid of what looked like an unnecessary "if", hope that's alright, just for my sake)

This is true. Though the means of which this power is achieved, and how much awareness one would need to have to use these powers comes into play to level the playing field.

The character in question has the ability to control vibrations to full extent, but what extent do they have?

Would The Flash have to be aware of every molecule in his body, and the solid object's, to phase through it? Not in that universe, but what about in reality? (Ignore that these abilities are not granted in reality)

Perhaps it's something one learns more about over time, as they get a feel for it, the awareness and potential become second nature. What do you think?

To control matter in its simplest is to control protons, neutrons and electrons. You can control heat, electricity, space. Control of matter is only limited by your creativity and the laws of physics. And that my friend is no limit at all. I would kill, literally hundreds of people, for that power.

SUPER EDIT: OH! Just brained! this could also be used for nuclear explosions at will! MWAAAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!! >:D

Mate, he has the force, pretty much the control of vibration AND a goatee. You can't win more!
