Go back to whipping korean animators, Mickey!
... Disney doesn't use Korean Animation to produce their movies. They produce all their theatrical films right in their own studios in Burbank, California. As for their televised cartoons, I have no idea, but I guess that they produce those in California too.

OT: It would be nice if Disney did give this guy back the Rights to Monkey Island, but if Lucas didn't do it, I highly doubt they're going to do it. Still would be nice though...

I'm still hoping for a Monkey Island in the style of MI 1/2/3, i.e. in 2D.

I just couldn't enjoy the series in 3D, did not work for me at all.
MI 1 and 2 Special Edition was glorious though.

This is exactly why we need new IP laws. Squatters like Disney need to be fined or something if the creator of an IP is wanting to use the IP, and the owners of the IP don't want to do anything with it. The whole point of IP is to make sure that those that own it can profit off of it. If they have no intention of profiting off of it, it should be public domain. Use it or lose it.

The guy is just being an ass. It's okay when Lucas isn't doing anything with the franchise, but EVIL Disney? Now THAT is WRONG. Someone needs to tell this guy to shut up.
(Btw, Disney IS making PC games, so what is he talking about?)
Let's be fair, Lucasfilm never successfully killed off the public domain.

They've had it for a month, it's not like they've been sitting on it for a while.

Just because Gilbert doesn't think Disney will do anything with it, doesn't mean they won't.

Gilbert should take a hint from Schaefer and let the past go.

The best entertainment news we could ever hear would be some rich person just bought every IP, forbidding anyone from using them."

I'm speaking of course about Disney's history, not Monkey Island specifically. I don't think Disney is going to do anything with it. If they do something with it, and it's placed in worthy hands to do it justice, I won't complain.

As for that quote, I don't know I agree with it. It is nice when people create new content, but look at how loved and developed the Star Wars universe is. Creating that from scratch every time someone has a cool idea would do nothing more than create a lot of watered-down clones of what is currently rich content. There needs to be a line where numerous sequels don't cross in a franchise, but if a creator can keep bringing fresh ideas to the universe they created, there's nothing wrong with making more content for fans. Otherwise, it's reinventing the wheel every time you want to tell a story.
