Not sure if it's been done before (a search yielded no results) but I'm looking for some games with creepy/ haunting music. Preferably without vocals (although this can be overlooked). If anyone has any ideas they would be greatly appreciated.

Diablo 2 has a few damn good creepy soundtracks.
For example this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_BTyVyyCe0
Ah, memories...
Edit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVEf5AiBFIk&feature=related
this one is even creepier.

The Darkness has eerie music, no lyrics that I've found yet, though. Sorry.

I have to say that Alone in the Dark has quite creepy music when it plays, although sometimes the music will turn off and you're playing in silence as well, which makes it all the more creepy. The best scary music is silence because then it makes it all the more immersive and realistic, which you don't want to be if you wet yourself a lot and are playing something like Fatal Frame, etc.

Listen to this [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zy6vl2qkVBc]. It might not sound that creepy, but if you listen to it where it shows up in the game, it's just downright epic.

Not gonna lie, I was expecting a Rick Roll at first.

Half-Life 2's music is great and really atmospheric, but there are only maybe three or four tracks that really have the creepiness factor. The Episodes have more creepy music, but it's not quite as memorable.

Shadow Hearts, both the first one and SH:Covenant, has some creepy music, mostly in the dungeons. I definitely recommend trying them out.

The FF2 Mysidia tower music... Well, sorta gothic, but in the same ballpark.

For me the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. main menu theme music was quite creepy. Have a listen here http://youtube.com/watch?v=CWAsbmhMF4Q

I thought that the Fallout series had a very ironic music selection. It freaks me out because the light, unchanging music completely contrasts a dark, amorphous Wasteland. It shows a want to return to a stable form of life, but we all know that will not happen.

Silent Hill. Any of them. Just pick one.
Pretty much that. It's worse when you've played Silent Hill a lot then you go on to Project Zero. The latter's sound effects aren't enemy-spawn triggered.

I'm not sure how the previous games' scores were, but Fallout 3's was particularly interesting. For example, the orchestral tracks in the Capital Wasteland were just barely noticeable, coming and going in very ephemeral sweeps. Kind of suggests how there's just faded remnants of civilization left, and that it's not going to stay around for long.

Anywho, just listen to Giygas's Theme [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p8ZubcNyUPY&feature=related]. If it doesn't make you feel chills then there's something wrong with you.
