I know this type of thread has been done before, but the most recent creepy moments in games thread hasn't been updated for nearly two months, so I figured starting a fresh one would be the better option.

What are some of the creepiest or unsettling moments you've experienced in a game (or book/movie/tv show)?

For me one of those moments came during my current New Vegas playthrough. I decided that I wanted to kill Yes Man (I was close to leveling up and was siding with Mister House). I attacked him with a shovel and not only did he not retaliate, he kept encouraging me to kill him saying things like "That's right, make me take my medicine!" and "Keep it up!" in that cheery voice of his. That was pretty creepy, and made even more so when he comes back in another body and asks if I want to murder him again.

The ladder moment in F.E.A.R.: Extraction Point.

The video doesn't do it justice. It's one of the few times that F.E.A.R. actually manages to be scary.

There is also one in F.E.A.R. Basic, where you go down a ladder, turn around, and Fettel is right fucking there.

No. I can't say I've ever heard of that game.

Must only be the coolest of the cool cats who know about that very awesome yet inexplicably unappreciated game.
I know, you'd of thought that more people would know about, or at least a website dedicated to gaming news might post a few articles about it.

The end of Black Station in Metro 2033, the Dark Ones had never really shocked me, but right there they did.

The downright insanity of this situation is poised to destroy what little is left of my fragile little mind.

I hope you're best pleased with your actions today. For you have caused much discomfort in my headspace.
It was all part of my overarching and ridiculously convoluted plot to confuse you. Step two... World Domination!

In Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth, as I was being chased through the Gilman Hotel, I got lost and wound up in someone's bedroom.
It was one of the fucking fishpeople. A female fishperson, in a pink nightgown, freaking out that I had burst into her room uninvited.
Not creepy in a frightening sense, but creepy in that 'this will never leave my memory, no matter how much I'd like it to' sense.

Al right, time for me to let this skeleton out of the closet...

Ecco the Dolphin. It traumatized me as a kid. The way the water got darker the deeper down you went, the sharks that popped out of nowhere, the pathetic ways you had to defend yourself. It turned me into a basket case, and I haven't touched an Ecco the Dolphin game since.

id have to say in bioshock when u r in the medical pavilion, and when u go into the morgue, theres pretty much nothing there

so u go down the steps and walk through the water, which is convieniently deep to make u walk slowly, and u see a shadow flickering on the wall of some guy doing something to a dead guys head

suddenly the lights go out in the entire place, the first time i played through i ran backwards and out the morgue :p

when i gathered the courage to go back in, he wasnt there, but the dead guy still was, so i search around a bit and walk out.

and he jumps out of the fucking cupboard!, the MOST scared ive ever been in a game or film ever.

the build up was genious.

bioshock is the game for creepy moments man.

Creepiest moment? Any horror game that you don't have a gun to defend yourself with.

Also Halo...Yes halo. When I saw all the dead Covenant lying on the ground my instant thought was, "Shit...There's something worse around."

EDIT: You know whats funny? I saw dead Covenant and at no point did I think marines did it.

This lead to my second creepiest moment. The first necromorph that plays dead in dead space. That jerk off scared the crap out of me.
(I can't believe they used the same trick in DS2. I Launched everything I had at the first one I saw that I knew I didn't kill).

NOOOOOOO it was Alma there on the top of the ladder, then when you get off the ladder, BAM, Fettel is walking towards you. I unleashed a whole clip at the bastard, who disappeared into nothingness. One of the most memorable moments in the game.
That's it. Way scarier than the one I posted the video of.

When you're fighting that pig thing at the end of Manhunt, you're in maze like hallway and all you can hear is the pig guy squealing with his chainsaw revving, the whole time I was thinking "OHFUCKOHFUCKOHFUCK He's getting closer, he's right behind me I know he is!".

I remember when that happened. I turn around to climb down the ladder, and Alma is there. I instinctively press jump, which makes me let go of the ladder, and suddenly Fettel is there. I lit him up with the SMG and he vanished. I think I sat on that catwalk for a good 30 seconds after that just trying to settle down.

OT: Recently I haven't see too much. I just beat Dead Space 2, and the only parts that really got to me was the fights against those velociraptor-type guys. The sense of being watched and hunted was unnerving when I was used to destroying the necromorphs with hardly any effort.

EDIT
There was one particularly unsettling bit in Dead Space 2 that bugged me.
When you go back to the Ishimura, there's a decontamination chamber you must go through. I remember in the first game when you go through there, it locks you in a tiny room and a bunch of necromorphs jump out at you, so that's what I was expecting. Instead, you stand in the small room for about 30 seconds, holding your breath and waiting for them to come, but they never do... The room just decons and lets you pass. That was a good part for me.

That's awesome!!! I wanna try it!

For me it was online gears of war 2 when some guy was singing Bon Jovi's 'you give love a bad name'. He scarred the shit outta me, you should have heard him.

A creepy unsettling thing for me, is that in Amnesia, the Cistern area, it's relatively safe, 'cept for the fact that rarely the water monster might spawn, and it's not nearly as frighting or unexpected as the first time you encounter it. Anyways, you have to shut off these pipes in order to unflood part of the level, and there's this box in the middle of the room, that has water pouring in from above, and sobbing noises coming from it. Once you turn the last wheel, the noises stop.

Damn it, I was gonna post that!

Anyways, it's from the same game, Amnesia, and I was in the morgue getting the vaccine from a dead body with a syringe to be able to go into the next area. None of this was what I wanted to do while I was in there, but the minute I was able to leave, and happy about that, a monster was trying to get in the room that I was in. I was doing a lot of swearing and bolted out of that room, and the build up to that was great.

Too bad my heart didn't see it that way....

FFX:

Tidus "teaching" Tifa to laugh. That was literally the most awkward scene I've ever seen (see what I did there?) in a video game. That was one of the only times I ever felt like skipping a cutscene.

A close runner-up would be MGS3 when Volgin grabs Big Boss' junk.

Dude, that shit scared the fuck out of me. Its even worse when you have zero sneak, and at level 5 having just start playing the game for the first time. Another game though, I went back there at level 18 with power armor and a minigun.

"Time to get some fucking payback", as in my mind i sss my guy kicking the door open and unloading on several ghouls.

I only went into that building on one of my eight or so runs through the game. IT was too creepy for me to go back in.
And it might make me a wuss, but I could not finish Silent Hill 2. IT was just too creepy. I had just gotten past the hospital level when the creepiness became too much and I had to shut it off.
