So I was watching the Sons of Anarchy the other day. I was thinking about how it might be fun to play the show as a game. Not as a GTA:Lost and the Damned ripoff, but as a sim type game. One where you are the leader and you try to meet the supply for the demand of guns, claim territory, manage manpower for security, decide who to hit and raid and when, etc. Just crime

I was trying to think of similar games like that, but couldn't really think of any. Are there any good games like that? Just crime strategy in general, not biker themed only.

Ever heard of the Gangsters: Organised Crime game?
It's pretty fun when you get the hang of it. Old though. Might be on GoG.com now.

Yeah Gangsters 2 (it's old, hope you're not a graphic whore) might be exactly what you're looking for, although it's not 100% sim, more like 75%sim/25% shooting.Godfather 2 has a little sim in it but basically it's GTA with rackets/stores/etc, you're probably better off with Gansters2, it has territory mgmt , manpower mgmt (thugs to defend businesses and hitmans to go with your lt's) weapons, cars, special businesses,etc...it's a pretty fun game :)

Freelancer had a fairly interesting faction and trade system where you could basicly be a pirate and steal goods from honest npcs, or deal in contraband etc, it was kind of let down by the fact that if you chose to do so it often made progressing through the story much harder, espicaly early on when your expected to help the police forces rather than blowing them up.

That game was freaking SUPERB. Loved the forums for it as well. We were all so excited for the sequel. Shame how that turned out. Always hoped someone would grab the rights for it and make it work again. Best part those black and white videos.

The video dosen't work :p and the Gangsters IP lies at Eidos, though i don't think/haven't heard them making any new plans with it.

Haven't played The Godfather but it got good reviews. At least the Wii version did. Don't look at me like that.

Sorry, I've got nothing to contribute but I did feel the need to fix the video.

Whoopsy Daisy, still haven't been made aware of the code to link youtube vids from here correctly I see but yep I know Eidos is still holding onto it. I just hope if a Gangsters 3 ever does get made by Eidos (or anyone else) it mainly sticks to the topdown management formula with a strong focus on the business aspect rather than the hybrids like Scarface: The World is Yours or Godfather 2.

Oh, i absolutely agree about that, please leave it as sim-y as possible, which sadly means the game won't get done for a long time/ever as sim games are out of fashion nowadays... :(

The hybrids were nice (godfather/godfather2/scarface) but they're really GTA with a bit of sim as an afterthought...

oh, and the code for videos is {youtube=whatever letters for the video] , replace {} with []

for example {youtube=hbSv8TH4jjI} , with []

If you want a real Simulation type of Game, well that being more of a Strategy Thing anyways then try out Evil Genius. Its basicly..well imagine being Doctor Evil from Austin Powers ;P. Its alot more into the Fun Category than anything else.

Sadly not many Games which arent directly Action Games that deal with Crime in some form. I.e. building up a criminal Empire and such.
