For some reason Civilization seems to miss out some of the more notable historic rulers as well.

Adolf, Pol Pot, Stalin - but keeps in all the "nice" dictators.

And then allows them to threaten you openly with nukes.

I'm seeing a minor problem here Sid...
Actually you can select Stalin as your leader for Russia in Beyond the Sword for Civ IV. Pol Pot ruled Cambodia, hardly a notable empire, and Hilter well... I think we can agree that people would get pretty upset if you can play as Hitler an attack a Jewish empire. Although making Germany Jewish is always funny.

A the ahistorical delights of the Civ games. I feel like playing some Civ IV right now.

And those were some nice heads...

True, but you have to remember that Firaxis aren't looking for controversy; if Nazi Germany were a playable Civ, all hell would break loose, and people would accuse Civ of being an anti-Semitic, fascist, and Socialistic game. If they were to be incorporated, you can bet the media will hound poor Firaxis.

Besides, if you were to incorporate Hitler, Stalin, or Pol Pot into Germany, Russia or Cambodia, you can bet they won't sell well.

OT: Best comic so far; try sticking to this type of humour- ie, satire. Stop with the pretentious rants on Halo and ramblings about messing with time.

Even Genghis Khan was more peaceful than Gandhi in Civ IV and I even made peace with Kahn trying to defeat Gandhi... and Gandhi always voted for himself as the supreme religious leader (I think it was the Vatican or something like that?), so yeah, Gandhi's a prick.

And what a prick, I always giggle like a school girl when I beat his sorry ass... very satisfactory...

Would you want people to play as Adolf Hitler, Pol Pot or Josef Vissarionovich'? I don't.

Seriously though, this is kind of similar to that whole Taliban thing in Medal Of Honor, so I get where you're coming from and maybe even agree with you. Maybe. I still don't want to see people playing or interacting with Hitler.

Also, Stalin did appear in Beyond The Sword and might have been pretty popular in there, despite causing the deaths of 30 million Russians during The Purge. Historic justice.

Also, who do they have for Russia now? Catherine The Great? Oh, terror, that should be gone, too.

Lol'ed, that's for sure.
Gandhi actually was badass... in a nice and benevolent way. And pulling that off instantly triples his badassery.

But... no Hungary? I mean, we did kinda kick a buttload of arse in the middle ages! (well, until we didn't anymore. Whatever)

Ok, should have stated Civ V, my bad.

But still, this is a game about taking over the world, where Gandhi is perfectly allowed to lob nukes around.

As are the Iroquois, or the Persians. Or Iran as it's now known.

Now...try re-drawing todays story with the modern leader of Persia and see how many fatwas appear. ;)

Honestly Civ 2 had Hitler. He was only playable in the WWII Scenarios, but he was there. (And Stalin, for that matter.)

I thought I read on the internet somewhere (so it must be true) that Gandhi was kind of a perv, he was supposed to have told a friend to send him his (friend's) young wife so he could "correct her sleeping posture"

I'm too lazy to look for links...

... Is that George Washington? Can you time travel in civ 5?
In Civ V, the leaders are basically deities, used to represent you and other players. As such, they never die and never age through the course of the game.

OT: Huh, so he's bad now? I remember him being alright, if malicious, in Civ IV.
Funny, I quite remember him being quite hungry for territory in Civ 2, and always able to get nukes so easily over everyone else. Loved holding them over my head in negotiations.

Gandhi be pimpin'

Yeah, this was pretty much my experience with Civilization Revolution.

"Oh hey, it's Gandhi!"

Five minutes later

"Oh God, look out! It's GANDHI!"
