I think Animal Collective and Panda Bear are freaking terrible, and I don't understand why they receive so much critical praise - it's all just shitty noise

I can see where you're coming from to a degree, I honestly hated their latest LP, mainly because I hate synthesizers and they pretty much dedicated that entire album to using synths. Strawberry Jam that came before was amazing in my opinion. I loved how they gradually layer instruments to create a joyous wall of sound. It's just fun, lighthearted music I guess.

I could just be talking out my ass though.

Well, the only thing I've heard by Animal Collective is "Merriwether..... whatever it was called", so perhaps I'll give Strawberry Jam a chance. I'm with you, though - I can't stand synthesizers, which is probably why I disliked the album so strongly.

I don't get the big deal with psychonauts yes some bits are funny but but found it so boring I don't understand why its so good.

Anything that gets a lot of hype puts me off, simply because 99 times out of 100, it will disappoint.

Oh, Comedy movies in general in the past 5 years. The Hangover, Knocked Up, and that whole crew. I don't find any of them funny in any way.

None of them are critically acclaimed anyway. Most reviews probably said 'Entertaining mindless fun'

I don't get why people love Halo. I also don't understand the love for Left4Dead... And plenty of other games now that I think about it.

Outside of gaming I generally like popular things, but I don't get the appeal of Star Wars or Lord of the Rings... I can see why people like them, but why they're so incredibly popular I just don't see. Personally I find them boring but that's just me.

It's good if you understand at the least, for e.g. I understand RTS's and FPS's I just don't play them.

Twilight and Harry Potter are good aimed at the demographics (teen girls and young people). But if you happen to be in those demographics and hate them, then it's worth mentioning.

I can't really think of much that's not bashing on popularity more than it is not understanding it (eg. Twilight or Avatar) but I'll have to say... Inglorious Basterds. I'm sorry everyone! But after just having watched Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction, it felt really boring to me! Maybe I'll watch it again some other time...

I'm with you on this one, compared to Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Basterds is a little lacklustre...

Well apparently you wouldn't know clever writing if it walked up and slapped you in the face. I was going to say "In before geniuely good games get mentioned" then I saw this.

Oh and of course, all things Tarantino except Reservoir Dogs. Seeing Kill Bill get rave reviews made my head explode, that movie is at best wildly schizophrenic.

Pink Floyd. Everyone loves them but I find their music inpenetrable. A few songs, notably Wish You Were Here and High Hopes, are excellent. Also, I can fully appreciate that Dave Gilmour is a fantastic guitarist. However, I just don't find anything special in most of the other stuff I've heard, especially when compared to other popular bands of the time.

To be honest, I don't get why people like The Beatles. I assumed it was nostalgia until I realized that people of my generation (currently college-age) love them too. I just view their music as boring and mediocre.

In terms of games, I don't get the love for the Street Fighter series. It's clunky, annoying, and the games' "skill" arises from your ability to spin your joystick in the correct 3/4 circle, rather than an actual strategy.

People make a fuss because they think that it makes them sound really intelligent if they like "classics". Personally, I detest Austen novels, but I know some people who also disliked them and said in class that they really enjoyed them...
