Just shoot for a single better video card and run both monitors to it. Dump SLI (EDIT: I mean dual video card set up, not SLI. My bad).
Strange Hard Drive choices.
Icky Case (A 2000 dollar computer deserves a 200 dollar case)
ASRock motherboard? I personally don't like that brand. But oh well.
Yes, I guess I had forgotten it, sorry.Tubez said:Have you forgotten this thread?
Now, as for the logic behind the drives. The raptor is specifically there for installed programs such as games and MMOs. Its not a huge amount but it will be faster than a 7200 performance wise on load etc. The idea is to keep that drive with the OS as well as whatever installed game I am playing at the time. If I am not playing it, it gets bumped back to the secondary drive for storage, along with music, videos, books, etc, that do not require high speed. So there is a method to my madness there. It ends up being the better choice based on my circumstances.AccursedTheory said:Snipalotapus
Budget ASUS. And if I want ASUS, I'm going deep, deep into ASUS's non-budget fun stuff (And never touching a DFI ever again, wretched pieces of crap).Tubez said:AccursedTheory said:SNIP
You do know that ASrock is Asus right?
I've never dealt with raptors myself, but my friend has. Twice. Both times, he's come to the conclusion that they're absolute garbage. The first time, it barely outperformed his mass storage drives, and his second (Purchased 8 months ago) was straight out slower then his TB Western Digital (Or was it a Seagate...).viranimus said:Now, as for the logic behind the drives. On the situation with the monitors.. there is a reason for different monitors. The first monitor will be the 3d monitor. The other monitor will be on the left of the 3d monitor. I also have the monitor I am using now, which is identical to the non 3d monitor, as it is just a discontinued VE226H compared to the VE228H monitors. So that will be my tri monitor display setup. Which that is why it will not utilize an SLI configuration. I will need 2 DVI outslots from one card, and 1 DVI outslot for the second card. So understand that going for a "better" video card would not solve my situation and it will require 2 NON SLI configured cards.
The case? Ehh, I like the case. I intend to hand paint marching roman standards in blacklight responsive red on the standoff wall. Dont see any logical reason to pay 200$ for a case, So I would have to have a compelling reason or examples, which I am open to suggestions, to change the case. I just have yet to see something in a 200$ case that has impressed me more than what I found in a 100$ case. (hell, my current build was pretty top tier about 2+ years ago, and its in a 40$ case)
As for Brands... Ehh to each their own taste. I have built 4 PCs now, and each have utilized ASrock mobos. I have been quite satisfied with their performance, layout and costs. So that works for me.
AccursedTheory said:Crap, never mind. It seems, sometime in the last week or so, they finally sold out of Coolermaster Cosmos (Unpainted).
I guess what you got will do.
I much prefer the one I have, the original.viranimus said:AccursedTheory said:Crap, never mind. It seems, sometime in the last week or so, they finally sold out of Coolermaster Cosmos (Unpainted).

Is this the case your referring to? If so, that does in fact look fairly awesome. But cases are mostly an aesthetic choice. Honestly If I had my way I would set up a mineral oil case. But I move around too much and it would be impractical.
haha might be true. The reason for that is where I live there is cheaper to buy a 1155 mobo & cpu then to buy a 1366 mobo and a good cpu.AccursedTheory said:Budget ASUS. Also, you seem to be oddly obsessed with the ol' Sandy board. I know they're nice, but you're boarding on sexual obsession.

As for the video cards, yah, that makes sense.
And the case, well, I'm going to toot the same horn I've tooted every time I've been asked. Behold, the best case ever produced by man (Though I have my doubts such a perfect piece of hardware could be forged by man)...
...

Just so you know SB outperforms everything from socket 1366, if you are not buying the 1000$ cpu and even then SB is not so far behind.viranimus said:Yes, I guess I had forgotten it, sorry.Tubez said:Have you forgotten this thread?
On the Sandy bridge, nothing in particular discounts it, Im just finding the slightly better deal based on overall GHZ, vs price, with the bloomfield. Trust me when I say I am not solidly locked into anything atm.
